The next civil war won’t be between states.

Despite the strident proclamations of others, I agree with you. The first "Civil War" was truly a war between the states. The states raised the army units (though agreeing to joint command) and the men felt they were first and foremost representing their states.

This is no longer the case. If we have another war, it will be a true 'civil' war, where civilians (with arms) fight it, and the opposing forces will be inner-city versus rural, with the battles fought in the suburbs. There is no way that Austin (here in Texas) would fight against the collectivists, no matter what some majority in the state might say. They are as collectivist as Lenin, and if the people aren't smart enough to vote the "right" way, then they'll just have to be spanked until the do.

I also don't believe it will be well organized. It will be riots and counter-riots more like an organized crime "war" than a duel of armies. Local "commanders" (see Somali warlords) will claim authority. It will probably result in a breakdown of all order and the US will balkanize into a dozen different 'nations' with either migration or execution to enforce the segregation of political philosophies. The only semi-hopeful way it might work out is that the breakdown of the economy results in so many inner-city deaths that the survivors give up. Even then, the warlords aren't going to surrender their own power easily. So if the inner-city does surrender, their will probably be another round of fights between semi-organized warlord 'armies.'

The organized US military is a hammer that would have a hard time against 200 million scurrying ants. If they come in on the side of individual liberty, they'd have to bomb/invade/destroy the cities, and I don't see them doing that. It would all depend on whether they take their oaths to the Constitution over their oaths to obey the orders of those in authority over them. And there are a lot of collectivists among the generals/admirals promoted by Obama.

So, it's not something to celebrate. But the alternative, turning into a socialist tyranny, is even worse.

I believe there will be similar civil wars fought across the planet at the same time.

And foreign entities involved to try to gain influence.
