Actually look at the charts and most of them ARE enduring. It HAS to be popular to truly be remembered.

But a few like these - amazed that they get the votes and end up “best of” the decade. I think this may be the oddest decade vote I’ve had so far.

I was born in '64, so I lived through part of the 60s and would have remembered songs that remained somewhat popular at least into the 70s. There were probably half the songs I had to listen to on YouTube to try to remember. I'd say about half of those triggered no memory whatsoever.

Is Stranger on the Shore (#1, 1963) really more enduring than Help by the Beatles (#7, 1965)? Most enduring music achieves a degree of popularity initially, but there are plenty of big hits that fade into obscurity after a couple of years.
