How can the UK only have 28 beds available for acute respiratory care in the entire country?

I don't know. I think he said for the most severe respiratory care and mentioned the rooms had the blood oxygenation machines. I think he said that came out in ministerial testimony.

So they probably have more ventilators than the blood oxygenation machines.

Yeah, in some ways for those that are “ready” this is the calm before the storm. Those who have been prepping quietly the last 3-4 weeks can sit at home for the next 3-4 weeks while everyone else goes nuts.

The wise virgins get to catch some rest while the foolish virgins go nuts, to paraphrase a gospel parable.

After that the bride groom shows up/and/or all Hell breaks loose. (Basically the same thing just different angles)

Time for bed. Well past time for bed.

The second line was a keeper. I think the first line was off.

The third line? Who am I to judge.

I was surprised that Hawaii actually did issue recommendation for 14 day supply...But then hard to get stuff to Hawaii in a hurry...

Don’t trust “hope”. Trust on self-reliance.

If you aren’t prepared for this virus, with contingencies on supply chain disruptions and protecting your vulnerable friends and relatives, I don’t know what to tell you.

Me, I’m stocked up on food, ammo, med supplies, and have made sure my older relatives are taking precautions.

Be unprepared for this at your peril. Call me paranoid, but I’d rather be paranoid than sick or dead.

Oh yeah, that could sideline emergency crews fast.

I hope other crews take appropriate precautions.

Probably have to have National Guard step in after emergency crews are sidelined.

Of course by then, you know your community has a problem.

"He is being censured? Or censored?"

After reading some of the comments here, both! He's been censored by youtube and others, and he has been censured by certain freepers here.

LOL, I wrote the highlights.

But I was trying to take notes while the video was playing.

And I grew up in Louisiana, and claim a lifetime handicap in all matters of spelling, pronunciation and grammar.

I was surprised that in the local press conference they did say something about how to seek treatment if you are feeling sick. It would seem to me that if you have one or more of the symptoms that you should call in (your doctor, the clinic, the ER, 911) and explain your symptoms. If the doctor is suspicious that it might be the virus, then have certain areas to go to with folks that are prepared to deal with it.

That’s what I would do. Don’t just show up at the clinic and sign in, talk with the person at the front desk, sit in the waiting room, and then mention to the doctor your symptoms describing the virus.

Of course, you might end up with everybody with the sniffles calling 911. (BTW - the sniffles, running nose, etc. have not been (or rarely) been a symptom of Covid-19)

Do you know what the plan is for infected retail employees? It’s the same plan that they are bound to, when they have the flu. They’ll keep on working face to face with customers, or they’ll be fired from their jobs and homeless.

A week ago, I read a story about a guy in Florida. He had a cheap insurance plan. And he wanted to get tested for CV. Ended up not getting tested for CV and got a $3800 bill. I think he tested positive for the flu. But they put him in a room and had full protective gear dealing with him.

There were holes in the story, like were his symptoms bad enough he needed to be admitted? Or did they do that as a precaution?

Insurance was trying to treat it as a pre-existing condition. I doubt that will fly if he contests it. Unless he bought the insurance in the last week.

There were too many questions, so I didn’t post the article.

But you’re right. They need to figure out how to get people tested without exposing others, and without discouraging people from going to the doctor.

I wonder how other countries are doing it?

And hospitals, when any unplanned exposure occurs? Doctors, except for interns, and registered nurses will go home to self-quarantine. Some licensed practical nurses and nurses’ aides will continue working.

I don’t understand all the blowback by some here...They have made it their life mission to denegrate any threads relating to coronavirus.

Our Fed and state government tell us to be prepared for between 3 days and 2 weeks. If we prepare, it helps prevent supply chain interruptions because we are not running out last-minute shopping for water and batteries...

If people have not made it a priority and are not prepared, this is a great time to get prepared.

This may not be “the big one,” but pandemic experts are not shy in saying we are overdue for a flu and we are a smaller world than ever with all the commerce and travel...
