FREE MONEY? CNBC Boosts Romney’s Coronavirus Plan to Give EVERY American $1,000
NewsBusters ^ | 3/17/2020 | Joseph Vazquez

CNBC apparently had no problem treating Sen. Mitt Romney’s (R-UT) coronavirus plan to give “every” American $1,000 as a rational idea. CNBC came right off the bat to make the senator look like some sort of philanthropist: “GOP Sen. Mitt Romney proposed on Monday sending every American adult $1,000 to ease the financial pain of the coronavirus pandemic that has tanked global markets and threatened to grind U.S. economic activity to a halt.” Did the outlet consider the irony that such a policy could require massive spending and tax increases that would further “grind U.S. economic activity to a halt”?

This is his guilt talking. He probably made more money off the $800 Billion stimulus package than he can launder.

I think I see a solution to the toilet paper crisis. The printing press will make an unlimited supply.

The RNC needs to kick him out of the party. One of the problems that the president is having now are people like Romney throwing out crap like this to the media. There is enough information that is being thrown out there without him and his ilk adding to the panic and confusion.

“The president has instructed me that we have to do this now,” Mnuchin added.

That's silly, and Romney is a fool.

However, it might be wise, if possible, to provide cash for those out of work because of the pandemic, for some very practical and pragmatic, as well as humanitarian, reasons:

It would be very dangerous for large numbers of people to be suddenly unemployed and impoverished, especially if shortages of vital supplies become critical. The last thing we need now is large numbers of desperate people.

President Trump, in additional to being a genius and a man of great morality, is pragmatic. He has already anticipated the dangers.

And thanks to President Trump's genius, including his pragmatism, the US economy has boomed to the extent that we can afford it!

Consequently, this might be an excellent emergency measure to take, somewhat like the Marshall Plan.

Trump is one of the greatest--perhaps the greatest--President in US history.

He is proving this point minute by minute during these stressful times.

White House working to send checks to Americans to fight coronavirus’ economic impact: Mnuchin

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin said Tuesday the Trump administration is working with Congress on a plan that would send checks to Americans in an effort to blunt the coronavirus pandemic’s effect on the economy.

“We are looking at sending checks to Americans immediately,” Mnuchin told reporters. “Americans need cash now and the president wants to get cash now. And I mean now, in the next two weeks.

“We want to make sure Americans get money in their pockets quickly,” Mnuchin said at a White House briefing on the virus. “We want to make sure small business owners have access to the funds. We want to make sure airlines, hotels. We have an entire package.”

“360,000,000 x 1,000 That is a lot of zeroes.

I don’t want it. It is a meaningless trinket to most.”

That’s much less than I’ve sent to the Treasury this year. You have to circumvent the Dems at times and get the $ out the only way it can get done.

If you’re looking to offload your trinket-check, PM me and we’ll make arrangements.

I think we all agree that many people are going to require some cash real soon. Like in a week.
Not a lot of options in the short term other than this.
This should be considered taxable income and maybe even at a higher rate depending on income. This might lower the bill somewhat and gets money to those that need it the most.

Likely either an “advance” on a future tax refund or if you owe, you’ll have to pay it back. You’re borrowing, interest free.

I agree with this move. Many in a number of industries were affected early on before most of America even realized what was happening.

For someone like us, the President’s plan is a godsend. All of our Spring Fairs and Fewstials have been cancelled. We will be living on $50/wk for the next three months. We had money set aside and lived all winter on what we made during the Spring and Summer. So our planning was good. We had a good chuck of change to enable us to travel south...everything was sitting pretty.

Now...Blown Up. And we are not the only ones. So a $1000 a month, or even just an extra $1000 would be a great boost right about now. Our house is paid and bills covered, the money would go toward food and fuel and business incidentals..

I think everyone is missing the point here. There is no “free” money. What ever money you get sent will have to be claimed as income in next years taxes. Just like before.

Over the top? Hell no!

President Trump is one of the greatest--and possibly the greatest--President in US history.

He is a man of towering intellect, morality, and puissance.

Do you have a problem seeing it?

In fact, considering the success of the Marshal Plan, serious consideration should be given to sending cash--not loans--to subsidize small businesses hurt by the pandemic.

We need to assure their survival until the crisis is over.

When it's over, the economy is going to come back with a roar. Small businesses--the backbone of the world's greatest economy--ours!--will roar back with it, fueling it.
