Eight Reasons to End the Lockdowns As Soon as Possible
Medium ^ | April 11,2020 | Jonathan Geach, M.D.

Posted on 04/13/2020 5:35:47 AM PDT by Hojczyk

This post is to help physicians, thought leaders and public officials understand and weigh the risks and benefits of extended lockdowns versus more measured and earlier return to work measures.

1..We have already flattened the curve

This is with the likely over reporting of death.

2. Economic collapse and unemployment are destroying families

Each day the shutdown continues, we are losing approximately one million jobs

3. We have not saturated the health care system

4... Suicide may kill almost as many people as COVID-19 this year.

5...The mortality was likely overestimated

The IHME model, as well as Dr. Fauci have recently decreased the likely deaths from this pandemic to around 60,000 from earlier estimates of 1–2 million. The early reports of 3–4% case fatality rate (CFR) are likely misleading.

7....Children are at almost no risk from this disease.

This year we have lost 105 children from the flu. Yet, we have closed every school in America.

8...Authorities should show clear evidence regarding the benefits of indefinite lockdown

The previous models were wrong. The consequences of indefinite lockdown are quite staggering, to the tune of one million jobs lost per day.

We still have bad models and bad data, and only 1-sided advice from the Fauci/Birx cabal. And media hysteria, and disinformation on HCQ.

Insanity!!! Open the friken country NOW!!!!

IMO the lock down is to protect people from themselves. Here in NC you still see people in stores with no masks and avoiding the 6 foot rule. Also some folks browsing Home Depot because they are bored. Not agreeing or disagreeing with lock downs just giving an opinion.

Another clear-thinking physician who would be infinitely more useful on a task force than Dr. Fakey.

In most places the lockdowns are a response to silly public hysteria. In some places like the NYC area they are probably necessary.

Really? Because we were being told it was to prevent the asymptomatic from transmitting the virus to vulnerable people.

The elites can't keep their damned stories straight.

Wasn’t there only one small child lost in NYC out of thousands of deaths? Wouldn’t that make the overall risk to children very small compared to everyone else? Children becoming carriers is something that comes to mind regarding the school shutdowns, but I doubt we have that many stealth carriers at this point anymore. After more than a month, it’s less likely that we have that many people who have the disease but haven’t become symptomatic yet. It seems likely that COVID-19 is stuck with us forever like the flu.

I would like to see one of the forever shutdowners debate these 8 points. Good post!

A very cogent and rational observation on your part.

Absolutely more drastic measures are needed in New York City than in, say, Sioux City at this point.

30,000 people in a ballpark will likely still be a bad idea for awhile, I get it.

99.9% of the population is at no serious risk so why do the social distancing thing? We need to keep isolating and quarantining those truly in need or at high risk of serious complications of COVID-19 but.... LET THE REST OF US GO ON LIVING!!!

You see a line of 100 plus people, many of whom are less than 6 feet apart, outside the Wal-Mart in Valley Forge, that’s literally more at risk just to get food than it is for these church services that state and local governments lose their mind over.

I disagree with the schools portion. Keep ‘em closed. Home school only.

The best thing to do if you have a vulnerable elderly living with you, as many younger people do, is to seriously have a wash down policy for going inside the home, and which you probably should anyways as many of these at risk elderly are also endangered by the flu, tuberculosis, etc.

Working people (except those indoctrinated in universities) won’t support a Communist revolution. If the authoritarian government uses an obscure but scary menacing virus to terminate a third of the economy, then the resulting long-term unemployment and widespread fear and job insecurity may help to drive enough Americans to vote for a bunch of Communists, who promise “peace, land, and bread,” desiring to take all three away from everyone. Closing the churches of course drives people away from the Truth into an alternative, the veritable worship of the Communist party and the government, a major plank of Communist governance.

The Communists don’t yet have a clear majority in these United States of America, but they can get one if they can convince another tenth or fifth of Americans to vote thus. This is their gambit.

My son-in-law has a home contracting business that has been shut down by Tommy the Commie Wolf’s decree that it is not essential.

He can supposedly do emergency repairs, but he looked into that and the process for getting a waiver is so complex he is not going to bother.

My daughter is angry. She wants to know why it is too dangerous for him to work in a empty house by himself, but it would be perfectly okay for him to take a job at Walmart which is constantly stampeded by people.

She is an ICU nurse and likely understands the risks more than most of us here.

They don’t want to shut down their activities, schedules and meetings. They want the little people to be shutdown and withdrawn from society. If they were truly concerned about catching the virus they’d move to the hinterlands in Canada or Alaska where the probably already own property and leave us alone. But no, they want to shut us down.

Or even the 3,000 or so that a good minor league team like the Pittsburgh Pirates is likely to draw.

It is all about the One World Government’s power grab. The commies going for power. The dimocommies going for power. That is what it is all about. More died from the N1H1 I think it was called. More in hospitals and more contacted it, something like 60 MILLION. The world did not shut down!!!
