Californians struggling to make ends meet during extended coronavirus shutdowns were not amused when their governor, Gavin Newsom, announced the creation of a public-private partnership to give away $125 million ($500/person) in pandemic relief grants to illegal immigrants who are ineligible to receive unemployment benefits or federal stimulus checks (because they are not here legally, duh).
Newsom further explained that of the $125 million in funding, $75 million would come from taxpayer funds (without explaining any legislative process appropriating such funds) and that a group of charities had promised to chip in $50 million.

On April 22 Ricardo Benitez, a legal immigrant from El Salvador, and Jessica Martinez, a Californian of Mexican/American descent, filed an emergency petition to the California Supreme Court requesting the Court immediately stay Governor Newsoms appropriation of $75 million to unnamed regional non-profits so they can, in turn, provide $500 checks to unemployed undocumented immigrants. Benitez and Martinez are both Republican candidates for the California State Assembly and are represented by The Center for American Liberty in conjunction with Harmeet Dhillon and Mark Meuser of the Dhillon Law Firm.
According to the petition, the network of unnamed charities, which are all illegal immigrant advocacy groups, will pocket 40 percent of the total funding to administer the program. This is nothing more than money laundering to keep these favored charities going through the pandemic.

He’s just trying to reward his voting base.
All made possible by our completely printed, fiat, centrally-planned money supply, courtesy of the Federal Reserve.
Are democrats actually subject to the law, or are they going through the motions before automatically ruling in Newsom’s favor?
* Gavel slam * "Court finds for the Defendant. Next."
Just so you all know how messed up things are here, I paid $2.50 for gas yesterday when a Texaco station in Wisconsin is selling regular for $0.75.
We have traded ‘the golden state’ for ‘the golden shower state’.
Just nuke us before the disease spreads...
ROFL
The California Supreme Court comes up with sensible decisions relatively frequently
I wonder who is the main octopus organization behind these “unnamed regional non-profits.”
Newsom to court, Im king here, go pound sand.
Gavin will whine to Trump that California is broke and needs a bailout. Watch CalPERS retirees your pensions are in jeopardy.
They elected the guy.
Hey, if Barney Google, Face crook, and the other deep pockets PRIVATE corporations want to pony up the cash for this operation, fine.
Spend $0.01 of the public’s money, and Gruesome and his ex-auntie Nancy Antoinette can both pound sand. Most likely at her NON-UNION winery.
With immigration virtually shut down, and immigration courts closed, these poor advocacy groups are suffering terribly. They need this "stimulus money" just to stay in business! /s (sorta)
Now imagine if trump did this.
How,many pieces would be he has no power to do that, he’s buying votes, etc etc.
Why anyone trusts the media anymore...
Maybe next a probe of the $1B deal to buy masks from China?
