Math is hard.
Sweden has more deaths per capita than the USA, neither of which is doing great by that measure.
Covid-19 Deaths per Million Population:
UK 414
Sweden 265
US 204

“You are truly the ones living in fear. Fear of a simple, open, honest discussion.”
Really? Honest discussion you say? Were that true what a great day it would be.
Like I said, go off and cower and run from the virus. HIDE! Best not even expose yourself by touching the keyboard!
May your fear and hiding keep you from joining the statistically insignificant. More importantly, may it shield the rest of us from your poor understanding of data and its significance to the discussion at hand.
It could also be the demographics of NYC. Either due to genes and/or behavior.
Yes!
And who would have thought that even FR would have people supporting this.
may it shield the rest of us from your poor understanding of data.
::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
Sweden has more than 5 times the deaths of it’s neighbors accounting for population.
I think you projecting and are the one in fear as you refuse to accept data before you that tells you that the answer is not as cut and dry as you hope. You cope with your fear by projecting it to others. Fairly common in stressful situations.
later
Sweden. Pop. 10 mil. Deaths 2679
Finland. Pop. 5 mil. Deaths 230
Norway. Pop. 5 mil. Deaths. 211
Those stats dont say that Sweden have the right answer
You can’t run from the Virus, but you can build up your immune system to defeat it.
That’s actually a dishonest discussion. Cherry pick things to compare to.
Compare, for us, Sweden to New York State.
To New Jersey.
Massachusetts
Michigan.
Connecticut.
Louisiana.
Get back to us when you’ve done that Bramps.
“happening in NY (especially NY City)? Is it there subways, population concentration, public housing and other special conditions contributing to the spread there?”
Yes. All of the above.
They made every bad decision possible.
Didn’t shut the subways.
In fact decreased capacity, making more crowded cars.
Did not implement cleaning protocols. Just the other day after 30,000 dead it finally dawns in them to clean the cars at night.
Forced infected elderly back in to nursing homes with uninflected.
Ping.
Sweden 256 deaths per million
Denmark 78 deaths per million
Finland 38 deaths per million
Norway 39 deaths per million
Sweden is clearly “winning”!
Why compare Sweden only with other Scandinavian countries? What about other European countries that have stringent lockdowns?
Yeah. The article is kind of stupid.
Can anybody find a chart forSpain and Italy deaths per day for Covid 19. They didn’t stay open like Sweden, but they had such a huge early spread that I would think they would have herd immunity by now as well.
Does anybody know?
Thanks.
Those stats dont say that Sweden have the right answer.
You have to factor in population density. Sweden has about twice the population density on a country wide basis than does Finland and Norway. If you compare major metropolitan centers Stockholm has almost 3 (three) times the population density of Oslo (11000/sq. mi vs. 3900). I haven't seen a model where that is factored in but I would hazard a guess that increases in population density cause nonlinear increases in cases and therefore deaths.
Certainly the US data show the more densely populated Northeast has disproportionately more cases (and deaths) than Florida, Texas or even California (the 3 most populated states in the country but they come in at 8th, 26th and 11th in population density). The hardest hit states of New Jersey and New York come in at #1 and #7. But New York benefits in that calculation as most of population is centered around NYC and is otherwise a large sparsely populated state.
By your comparison Sweden is doing great compared to Massachusetts. Mass has 6.8 million people and are reporting 3800 deaths as of May 2. Sweden is about 2700 but have 33% more people.
NY Lies. not percentage of deaths in Nursing homes. 1/3 of everywhere else. The padded the Covid19 figures with death’s revised by changing cause of death.
—
17% of Covid19 deaths is totally not credible. All Lies.
—
Covid19 deaths in Nursing homes:
New York 3,043 (17%)
Pennsylvania (65%)
New Jersey 3,200 (40%)
Delaware (58%)
Maryland (46%)
Quote:
“To put things in even more perspective, while Sweden has already suffered 2,586 COVID deaths in 2020, back in 2018 there were approximately 6,997 total respiratory disease deaths in Sweden and the countrys healthcare capacity was not overrun, nor were any of their public systems stretched to breaking point.”
They didn’t have to destroy their economy. Amazing, huh?
Thats actually a dishonest discussion. Cherry pick things to compare to.
