I actually had a friend tell me that Florida is a disaster with Covid cases.

I told him Georgia and Florida are actually doing really well and Georgia had a really low death count since opening.

He was absolutely shocked. I showed him the data and he was gobsmacked. I told him don’t believe what you hear in the media or on FB and Twitter.

We also had a conversation over Texas. I had to explain that cases had gone up more because of the huge testing increase that has occurred.

Palm Beach, Broward and Dade counties have been the highest numbers of cases in FL...stands to reason as they are the most populated. The rest of the state has varied from a few other “hotter” areas and the rest virtually nothing. DeSantis is doing a good job and we’re entering Phase II next week. My only complaint is we should have never shut down like we did, but I understand why...now that we’re smarter with the data and what COVID really is (and is not) hopefully any rebound spikes will be managed much more individually rather than across the board.

I’m also guessing that the Texas spike is partly due to all the cases in the Amarillo meat processing biz. Testing was ramped up in that city, and about 700 meat processors were discovered to be infected. These folks will go (or have gone) around infecting other Amarillians, and so on.
