Staunton Virginia reminds Democrats that Republican enthusiasm is building

Republican enthusiasm to vote is building and there is not much the Democrats can do about it. They will not/cannot change. They are way too invested in the mistakes they have made in their terribly inept handling of the Covid-19 “crisis.” They have unmasked themselves and now must live with the face in the mirror.

Ordinarily the news of little Staunton Virginia flipping its City Council from Democrat to Republican would be just “nice” news. After all it is in Augusta County which voted in freshman Congressman Ben Cline by a 60/40 margin. So, what is so important about this race that went virtually unreported outside of Virginia?

The numbers brought lots of particularly good news for Republicans and more bad news for Democrats, that is what. These results must be especially worrisome for those who have cheered on tyrannical Democrat governors as they gleefully ordered their citizens into house arrest for the last three months.

Last Tuesday, Staunton insurgent Republican candidates kicked out all the Democrats on its City Council. They did this in spite of the Democrats rolling out their best Get Out The Vote effort in a May election in years, according to a local political reporter.

The admittedly stunned reporter added, “Republicans got turnout more akin to, not quite a presidential year, but approaching gubernatorial.”

The Democrats did a great job of GOTV but were swamped under by a wave of Republican enthusiasm that shocked the observer who called the results “.. stunning almost beyond words.”

The draconian management of Virginia’s Governor Ralph “Coonman” Northam, his sadistic shutdown rules, and his proudly announced unconstitutional plans to destroy the Second Amendment have apparently begun to catch up to the Democrats.

Northam and the Democrat controlled Virginia Legislature have fired up Republicans with enthusiasm that is likely to build in heat and light as we get closer to November

Clearly Republican voters in Staunton, who are fed up with Coonman’s shutdown, were significantly more enthusiastic about voting than Democrat voters were.

Likewise, enthusiastic California Republicans, who propelled a GOP take away of a Democrat held Congressional seat for the first time since 1998, were energized by the same cruel treatment by their Democrat governor.

For perspective, consider these facts about how Staunton has voted in recent years. The city voted for Barack Obama twice, and voted for both Terry McAuliffe and Ralph Northam for governor.

It gave Hillary Clinton a narrow victory over President Trump even while the rest of the 6th CD, where Staunton is situated, was voting 55/45 for Republican Bob Goodlatte.

In 2018 while current 6th CD Representative Ben Cline was winning the district wide race by a 3 to 2 margin, Staunton gave his Democrat challenger what was described as a “solid majority.”

In nearby Waynesboro, which is also in Augusta County, Republicans flipped the City Council. They now control the body although the Democrat mayor won reelection.

It is interesting to note that the mayor who got 69% of the vote in 2016, got just 57% last Tuesday. Of perhaps greater interest to Republicans in the town is that Mayor Democrat got 64% of the absentee ballots cast.

In a voting universe as small as the 1857 received ballots, that is not an insignificant number, but that is a story for another day.

Republican enthusiasm will be the most under reported story of this election cycle until it is too late for Democrats to react. By not reporting these Republican enthusiasm brush fires, the media is hurting Democrats as much as they are hurting them with phony polls showing Joey Fingers way ahead of President Trump.

If Virginia’s state elections were in line with the feds, I’m convinced we’d have taken back the house and kept the senate, and my county would still be republican. Unfortunately, the election was last year, before we all saw how horrible democrats were at running government when it mattered.

I remember voting last year and not seeing many Republicans at all. My wife, I, and my four adult children all went to the polls together and the people there just stared at us like we were from the moon.

They gave us Democrat voting sheets and pointed out he specific candidates. (Made it real easy to know who NOT to vote for.)

But upon further study, I came to the conclusion that there are far more conservatives and Republicans in VA than the other. They just did not come out and vote last year.

Maybe all those “lazy” voters now understand what will happen when they choose to sleep a little longer on voting days. Maybe Northam is the best thing to happen to the VA GOP in many years. I don’t know, but I am looking forward to Nov 4th.

The USA at this point should probably be broken down further into more states. How can Virginians outside of Northern Virginia put up with Richmond garbage? Pennsylvania is the same way as Philadelphia wags Harrisburg. It is not as simple as saying “blue” state and “red” state as the stupid left mischaracterizes constantly.

You know something is up when WMAL conservative talk in the DC metro area is #1 out of ALL radio stations.

Let that sink in. This is not a simple voter preference one-off event; this is a massive swing because the Democrats are exposed for who they are: corrupt hacks with no ideas. Add it Gov Blackface........and well....here we are.
