“During the 2016 Presidential Election, my blog’s inbox was flooded with emails from concerned Christians asking me to look into Hillary Clinton’s supposed ties to a pedophile sex ring.

“And after DNC staffer Seth Rich was murdered, it was my Christian followers sharing links to conspiracy theories — even after Fox News retracted their original story.”

why single out “Christians” for ridicule?

Probably because it was posted on a section of the website for articles about Christianity, although it didn't seem like ridicule to me. Also, before ever talking about the susceptibility of some Christians to outrageous conspiracy theories he discusses three reasons all types of people adopt conspiracy theories.

And lefties, who have been railing about Russia for 3 years, don’t fall for these?

Of course there are people on the left who entertain conspiracy theories, which the author acknowleges when he says, "Liberal 'infotainment' bounces from one Trump-related outrage to the next with reckless abandon. Real-world social ills are capitalized upon and transformed into vapid social justice 'slacktivism' campaigns."

I like FreeRepublic for the variety of articles that get posted that I would never otherwise have seen. I used to enjoy the comments of other Freepers a lot more - they often included cogent remarks from people who knew a lot more about the subject matter than myself and often more than the author of the original article. I've also enjoyed those comments that were just witty or humorous. For some time now, though, I'm seeing so many bombastic remarks or remarks that demonstrate the commenter did not critically read the article that I often don't even go to the comments. Probably what I should have done here.
