Coronavirus In Chicago: Phase 3 Of Reopening Will Look Different In The City
Block Club Chicago ^ | May 22, 2020 | Kelly Bauer

The entire state of Illinois is preparing to move into Phase 3 of reopening next week — but things will look different in Chicago than they do elsewhere.

Lightfoot has said the city won’t be able to have outdoor dining for restaurants, though that could come later in June. And the lakefront and other popular trails, including The 606 and the Riverwalk, will remain closed for now.

“There’s no vaccine. There’s no cure,” Lightfoot said. “We’re still at risk. COVID’s still here. It’s still getting people sick and people are still dying. So no matter what phase we move into, until we get a vaccine, the basic precautions that we have all know well … are still gonna be in play.”

That means Chicago has to move slow to prevent the virus from spreading and more lives being lost, Lightfoot said. She emphasized Thursday she doesn’t care if nearby cities like Evanston or bordering states like Wisconsin are opening up, saying all of Chicago’s reopening decisions would be made using data and science to protect people.

“When I find myself in the circumstance of calling the survivors of people who have died, I don’t want their deaths to be in vain because we are so fixated on a moment of pleasure that can impact our city for a lifetime,” Lightfoot said. “And, yeah, I will say the same thing that I tell my 12-year-old: I don’t care what other people do. You’re my kid.

“I am the mayor of this city; I have a responsibility and an obligation to speak the truth even when people don’t want to hear it, even when it’s hard, because that’s what’s the right thing to do.”

Phase 3 will signal the reopening of salons and parks and outdoor dining will be allowed for many. But that's not necessarily the case for Chicago.

No rationale for the continued closings or explanations as to how the city is going to pay its bills minus sales tax revenues.

...or explanations as to how the city is going to pay its bills minus sales tax revenues.

They will default and then claim fedgov must pay them.

“When I find myself in the circumstance of calling the survivors of people who have died,

Oh, please. Since when is that a Mayor's responsibility?

Do you call the survivors of those killed by gang-bangers, urban terrorists, and other ne'er-do-wells in Chicago?

Too bad the mayor didn’t explain that shootings from closer than six feet feet violate social distancing guidelines.

;-)

I think this means the weekend shootings can take place from less than 6 feet apart now.

Madame Mayor, your rabid support for the slaughter of 3000 innocents in the womb, PER DAY, disqualifies you from claiming the moral high ground.

Man Accused Of Raping 3-Year-Old At McDonalds Previously Arrested At Texas/Mexico Border

U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) says a man who prosecutors allege sexually assaulted a 3-year-old girl in the stall of a McDonald’s restroom located in Chicago’s North Riverside community 600 North Clark street should have been turned over to the agency last year.

Christopher Puente, 34, is charged with one count of predatory criminal sexual assault. Cook County prosecutors said he confessed to detectives that he’d placed the child on his lap while he was in a restroom stall, pulled off her pants, and covered her mouth when she started calling out “daddy daddy.”

The father had taken his two children to the restroom, taking his son into a stall while his daughter waited just outside in the restroom. According to prosecutors. Puente, who was in the next stall, lured the girl into his stall while her dad was preoccupied, pulled her into his lap, pulled down her pants and underwear, and sexually assaulted her.

In June 2019, ICE lodged an immigration detainer with the Chicago Police Department on Puente, who has several felony convictions and a prior removal, after he was arrested for theft.

“How many more victims must there be before lawmakers realize that sanctuary policies do not protect the innocent?” asked Robert Guadian, field office director of Chicago Enforcement and Removal Operations (ERO). “Puente should have been in ICE custody last year and removed to his home country. Instead, irresponsible lawmaking allowed him to walk free and prey on our most vulnerable.”

I hope the limousine liberals on the Near North side are choking on their elitism. They elected ‘lil Groot.

BTW, I didn’t know she had a 12-year old kid. Poor kid.

What about the common cold, the flu, cancer there still is no cure for that and people are dying.
We need to close down indefinitely until we find the cures..

Heh, heh. Yeah. Questioning their commitment to civic-mindedness should shame them into proper behavior.
