Dan Bongino: The Stunning Reason Why Rod Rosenstein Will Be the First Witness Before Senate Committee
redstate ^ | 5/28/2020 | elizabeth vaughn

Posted on 05/28/2020 8:46:40 AM PDT by bitt

This afternoon, it was reported that former Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein will be the first witness to testify before the Senate Judiciary Committee next week.

I’ve never understood why Rosenstein, who has played such a pivotal role in the investigation of President Trump, has received so little scrutiny. Although he projects the persona of a boy scout, he is one of the vipers slithering through the muck of the Washington swamp. In March 2017, then-Attorney General Jeff Sessions made the disastrous decision to recuse himself from the Trump/Russia collusion case because he had met twice during the 2016 presidential campaign with Russian ambassador Sergey Kislyak. This remarkably poor choice, which left Rosenstein in charge of the FBI’s investigation, changed the course of history.

We all know Rosenstein is the man who appointed Robert Mueller in May 2017 to investigate allegations that President Trump may have colluded with the Russians to win the presidency and may have obstructed justice. We also know he wrote the memo which outlined the reasons why FBI Director James Comey should be fired. After Trump fired Comey and this memo became public, The New York Times reported that Rosenstein had been “anguished.” And, yes, The Times reported that he’d offered to wear a wire into the White House to record President Trump.

I believe in evolution when I see side to side pictures of Rosenstein and a weasel.

Chris Christie would have been a better pick for AG then Sessions any day of the week.

Christie was a long time friend of Trump
Christie was a great prosecutor who went after ‘rat corruption like no other
Christie was the governor of New Jersey and had to work with a hostile media and ‘rats who were looking to lock him up for anything they could find
Bridgegate was the blueprint for russiagate. Christie would have recognized this early on and put an end to it before it turned into something
Christie had a no nonsense demeanor and didn’t mind rocking the apple cart, he was elected Gov of NJ for that very same reason
Christie, unlike Sessions was never a US senator and wasn’t part of the good ol’ boys network. Sessions worked along side Lindsey Graham and John McCain. He was more friends with them, then to stranger President Trump
Christie would have never been convinced by Obama Lawyers that he needed to recuse himself
Christie was a successful Prosecutor and had many ‘rat scalps, Christie help orchestrate operation bid rig I that went after corrupt Democrats in NJ, over 45 were arrested and prosecuted.

“BLACK AS THE ACE OF SPADES! He got a Standing Ovation at some really left wing convention meeting right after he stepped down!!”

Trump kept him on for a reason none of us know. For all we know, Rosenweasel won the “get out of jail free” card and will implicate other conspirators. Right now the big question is, who is going to prison?

IIRC, the big thing he did was change the scope of Mueller’s “inquisition”.

We all know Rosenstein is the man who appointed Robert Mueller in May 2017...

I'd like to know, was Rosenstein having regular check-ins with Mueller, and at what point did Rosenstein realize that Mueller was suffering from diminished capacity like Joe Biden is?

If Rosenstein saw Mueller's diminished capacity, why didn't he say something and change the leadership of the investigation instead of keeping an obviously incapacitated person in charge of a very serious investigation?

"Its apparent that FISA abuses will continue unabated."

I read on another thread the House bill for FISA renewal has been pulled. I also read that if not renewed, FISA expires sometime soon. Is that true?

I agree with you.   Gowdy sucks and is a big talking / do nothing nothingness in the same league as Linda Graham.   Whenever either one comes on anywhere, I turn it off.   I don't ever want to hear anything those BS jerks say again, about anything.

Nothing is going to fix DC; it is lost to enemy forces.

The only law enforcement agency trying to enforce USA law, in DC, is Judicial Watch. DOJ is as limp as a bowl of jelly. All the good guys in DC are pinned down by enemies within.

True, but what did Rosenstein know and when did he know it?

Why did he name an incompetent person to be the head of it, and then keep that person in place throughout?

The Democrats' first "own goal" was insisting that Mueller testify before Congress. This had the unintended effect of showing the American people how diminished Mueller had become, which tore up any credibility that the "Mueller Report" might have had in making charges against President Trump.

Rosenstein must have known and said nothing, keeping Mueller in place for his reputation, if not his competence.

Sessions has the work ethic of a U.S. Senator.
