I’ve got a theory that after the looters ransack and decimate an area or neighborhood, they set fire(s), signaling others there are no more valuables to steal over here. Also suspect the fires are diversions drawing attention away from the next target locations. This is incredibly organized across the cities.

The dindunuffins are being led & directed, whether they know it or not, by communist organizers who have long ago reconnoitered the various quadrants of all these cities.
