Roy Cooper marched in a densely packed protest outside of the governor's mansion, at times removing his face mask while walking through the crowd. Cooper said Tuesday that the Republican National Convention, scheduled to be held in Charlotte this summer, would have to be reduced in size due to fears that the coronavirus pandemic would still pose a significant threat in August. "The people of North Caroline do not know what the status of COVID-19 will be in August, so planning for a scaled down convention, with fewer people, social distancing and face coverings is a necessity," Cooper said. Several hours after making that announcement public, Cooper joined the march outside of the Executive Mansion in Raleigh.

Charlotte was a bad choice from the start. Riots are common and it is unsafe at night. The restaurants are small and dark. The GOP should get crazy and have it on a naval fleet.

Just call the GOP Convention a political assembly for the peoples constitutional right assemble and speak peacefully.
I believe Atlanta would be an abject disaster. Orlando could use the infusion of economic activity given that the Disney parks have been shut down, and they probably have the hotel space to accommodate the convention. Vegas would be great, but they will probably want to stick to states with a Republican governor.
Nashville would be a better location than Atlanta, but it would have similar issues in terms of a lot of leftists who have moved from other states as well as a significant hostile "urban" population. Knoxville would be an interesting choice, but the lack of an international airport would make that a challenge.
Move the convention and never look back. Move it to a freedom friendly state pronto. Don’t be dictated to by these lefty, petty dictators.
I agree about atlanta. I live in Jax. We’ve been blessed with very low covid infections/deaths. Around 1.1 million people in this county and 40 deaths.
Move it to the big state University in. Red state. There are arenas and stadiums that could be used as well as large lecture halls. Although there hasn’t been an article in weeks, most state schools aren’t getting the usual amount of money since states aren’t collecting as many taxes.
The students have all been sent home. The professors can all write letters about how much they hate this until their salary decrease is canceled and their teaching load goes back down.
Move the damned convention to a normal, regular, American conservative area. To hell with all these big cities where the dims are in control. Hell, move it to a huge farmer’s field, do it like an old fashion Christian tent meeting. Get one of those large circus tents and do it there. To hell with bringing our money to these stinking dimocrat run cites and giving those stinking liberal mayors money to blow on illegals and their own pension fund (bank account). To hell with them. Quit helping them out. THE ONLY WAY you beat the enemy is to go on the attack. It is time to QUIT playing defense. It seems that is about all we do, play defense.

Definitive proof that he was playing politics and was just trying to screw over the other party. He obviously did not have legitimate health concerns. Out of political bias and spite, he cost his state many millions of dollars the convention would have brought at a time of economic hardship.

NC is a mostly red state. That’s what people are missing. Cooper got in due to a fiasco with how construction contracts were awarded for a big highway project here. Charlotte itself due to a large Black community and an influx of Yankees leans heavily Democrat, but the state leans pretty significantly Republican.
I live way out in the very flat part of Kansas. Would love to see Wichita overrun with tourist/convention dollars. The liberals in Topeka would be triggered beyond their ability to control themselves, I am sure!
Las Vegas is HEAVILY Democrat. Lots of illegals working there.
How about somewhere in Missouri to honor Rush Limbaugh???
