I am interested in buying two firearms: a handgun, and a short-barrel shotgun, for personal protection and for sport.
From what I've read, handgun design for the mid and upper-end prices have improved significantly over the past several years.
The Luago Alien looks like a beautiful gun, with all the features I'm looking for. At $5K, it's pricey.
The Sig Sauer M400 and CZ75 Czechmate look great, too. All are red-dot ready.
As far as shotguns are concerned, the Mossberg JM Pro 940 looks great.
Glock 19. Reliable and inexpensive to shoot. It does an excellent job of taking care of problems with chunks of lead.
Maybe put all of that other money into ammo, which you should probably buy now.
Mossberg 590, Glock 21 (or Ruger if you want American)
My advice is, don’t ask for firearms advice online.
Rock Island snub-nosed hammerless .38 and a budget Mossberg shotgun for routine pest control.
Keep your kimber in the safe.
The Mossberg is a fine shotgun.
Any of those other pistols will serve you well but Id say buy a less expensive model and put the difference into ammunition, range time, and training.
L
$5000 for that? Thats insane,.
Buy a Glock, shoot it a lot.
Ditto on the G19. G26 is a close 2nd. I have both. Mossberg and others make hi-cap short shotguns. Mine is 20” and 8rnd capacity.
Laugo Alien. Sweet Jebus. Stick with something proven that works. BTW how much of that Sig is proprietary?
Amen. Everybody is an expert in firearms...myself included. Lol
When I was doing my AR research I surfed YouTube for info....I had no idea ther was that much testosterone in the world.
Spend more on ammo than your guns.
Mossberg 590, Glock 21 (or Ruger if you want American)
For handgun look into the
Smith and Wesson EZ. IIRC it comes in 9mm and .380
How is the Benelli M4?
Seriously, youre trolling.....
Id like advice on a new car.... what do you think .... should I get a Lamborghini or a Bugatti?
Very good and expensive.
Height/weight/age?
Relative to others of your size, how fit/strong are you?
How much firearms experience do you have?
What is the personal protection role of these firearms - home defense, car, concealed carry?
What is the sport role?
A couple of general comments: I love my Glocks, and my Glock 17 is my backup home defense firearm. However, I strongly recommend against a Glock unless you have a lot of handgun experience. Handgun safety is an issue with any choice you make, but Glocks in particular are less forgiving than any other design. If you do dumb stuff, a Glock doesn’t have a safety that will protect you from an isolated oopsie.
I have high-end firearms, and to a large extent they can be worth it. I have a rifle and a pistol in the $5k range that are amazingly accurate, and I’m good enough that I can see their accuracy. Most people with the same firearm would just see that they look pretty. Are you good enough with a handgun that there is a point in paying $5k for a 1/2 inch reduction in error? If you’re not already that good, I would suggest a different striker-fired handgun in the $1,000-$1500 range for the next year or so. Practice with that at the range, see how good you are once you’re trained up, and then decide if you want to go high-end and what precise traits you want in that dream handgun.
Don’t really know, but Benelli makes excellent shotties.
Just my take... a high-$ handgun is great but kinda like a sports car ... for show and performance on the track (or range, to unentangle the analogy). Probably not the choice for going to the hardware store.
Talk to your local store, not about a particular firearm, but about your purpose.
(That said, I cant find anything that has moved me from the old Glock and boring Rem 870 for all-purpose utility and absolute reliability, but thats not by any means the only choice!)
