Dinesh D’Souza says no republicans owned slaves. Misleading. The Republicans were formed out of the Whigs, and I think I read the other day that about 1/3rd of the slaveowners were Whigs.

I believe him. Slavery was the major issue that caused the Republicans to split off from the Whig Party. I read that on the Internet.
