Rep. Elise Stefanik, R-N.Y., made the announcement in a statement, calling the woman's graduation from the Special Forces Qualification Course "an important and hard-earned milestone."

"This achievement is a testament to this soldier's individual strength, courage and commitment, and also an important institutional milestone for U.S. Special Operations Command as it embraces the cultural change that will continue to make it the most successful and elite Special Operations Force in the world," Stefanik said.

In mid-June, the National Guard soldier finished the final requirement by making it through a culminating field exercise that drops candidates into a fictional, unconventional-warfare setting at Camp Mackall, North Carolina, the news outlet reported.

No requirement as of 1980 and going forward. Standards have dropped across the board.

The women’s world record in the 100 meter dash is 10.49 seconds.

You ran a sub 10.49 second 100 meter dash in high school? In Arizona 2019, the fastest high school time in the 100 meter dash was a 10.53, and that’s faster than that.

Really impressive. I congratulate you on your full ride scholarship to the top-10 college of your choice, and the multiple All-American awards you won.

There is no way in he!! a 5 ft tall woman can do the physical requirements to get her Green Beret. Just another example of the Army giving away what used to mean something just like they did the Ranger tabs to the first women passed along in that course. Let this retired Army Officer be not the first to call BS.

I ran a 9.7 100 yards in 1965. That was in high school. At the time the women’s world record was held by Chi Cheng from Taiwan. I watched her on TV a few times and no other woman really even pushed her.

I did get a full scholarship to Troy University. I was a hurdler and sprinter but we had another guy named James Batie who ran a 9.3. I saw him beat the world record holder in the 50 indoors.

My time in the hundred would not have gotten me a scholarship at the larger schools.

I held the 120 yard H.H. record for 28 years at Troy. It was not that fast but I won a lot of records anyway.

OK smartass what else do you want to know?

Somebody correct me if I’m wrong but I always thought that any special forces candidate had to have at least a few years of exemplary active duty service before they could even try out for any of these duties.

Nope, you can apply directly to the Green Beret's as a civilian.

Look up Project XRAY (option 18X)

Exactly.

And how many exceptions have been made so this female could make this “milestone”?

Here is a list of the all time top 25 100 yard times. 9.30 would have put the guy you noted on the list. By a long shot. Why isn’t he there?

Your memory may just not be what you think it is.

I doubt he identified as a woman, so no accolades for him.

I can see a female being a HIGH-LEVEL medic or perhaps a commo specialist on a B team but NOT as an operator on a Special Forces A team.

40+ years ago when we MPs accepted our first few females into the Corps, they were required to meet the SAME standards as male trainees: At least 70”tall, weigh at least 150# and able to run 2 miles in BDU & boots in 15 minutes, while wearing “field” MP gear & an M16. To enter OSUT, ALL trainees had to also pass the minimum requirements of the MALE PT test.
(The vast majority of accepted female Apprentice MPs, who entered the skill Level 1 school, were HIGHLY MOTIVATED young women mostly off farms/ranches & often were the daughters of civilian police officers.)

As long as that was the standard, the FEW women in the MPs worked out well. - The problem was when the DoD dropped the height/weight/fitness standards & FORCED the MP Corps to allow smaller/weaker males & females to enter MP OSUT.

A personal note: The first female MP to enter our company was intelligent, tough, talented & motivated. Four years later at ETS from active duty, CPL Janice E. R_______ returned home to CO, joined the ARNG & later became a Colorado State trooper.
(I’ve heard but do not know, that she is now retired from the CSP.)

There are over 250 HS sprinters who have times better than the female WR.

The speed of a sprinter at a track meet has NOTHING WHATEVER to do with the SKILLS, FEROCITY & TENACITY required of a combat soldier/warrior.

I swear to God I agree ....fear runs girls more than any emotion

Which is why in a common sense world they have depended on men for 1000s of years

We are living a false construct and out allows them to destroy western civ is in fact destroying our world as we knew it

No question

In my life 80% of all problems I’ve experienced or witnessed of a family or personal nature have been the result of drama created by women

I placed women on a pedestal as a boy....foolishly

Buried somewhere is that they lowered standards for this to happen. She can’t possibly carry a co Green Beret off the field at all.

That was my first question too. How much did they have to lower standards, to get her through? It’s good that women want to serve their country, but I don’t think being a Green Beret, is one of those things. Most men can’t handle it.
On the other hand, I was an air traffic controller. The best air traffic controller I ever saw, was a black female E-5. That woman could really move airplanes around the sky. She was incredible.

Back then times were done by stopwatch.

Around 1971 Batie was ranked number 4 in the world by Runners World. The shorter the distance the better he was. Still he ran in the low 20s for the 220.

The list you showed was for electronic timing only.
