COVID19 Phone Scam Call
Mulitple | AUG 3, 2020 | Self

Posted on 08/03/2020 9:38:03 AM PDT by Patriot_MP

I was just notified through text that several people are getting phone calls stating that they have been listed as a person who has had contact with a "positive" COVID19 patient.

The caller then elicits the mailing address from the person, who now has the Phone Number confirmed to a known person, plus the physical address (except if it is a PO Box).

Once that is obtained, the scammer then will ask for a "one-off fee" of $50 that needs to go on a credit card. Victims give out their CC information at this point.

It took awhile, but here it is - scammers have gone from Microsoft Support, to Health Insurance, to now COVID19 Test Kit scam.

Copy and paste this out to everyone you know.

Do not let the vulnerable think they have been exposed due to lack of information and fear of dying from this virus.

Scammers are relentless !

We just don’t answer calls that are not from someone we actually know. On the rare occasion when we do, we like to mess with them. That’s about it.

I propose public execution for the phone/ text scammers. And for the “legitimate” “charities” that prey on the elderly. I know of one person, afflicted with dementia, who was sending about $100 per month to “charities.”

If people are too stupid to realize these are scams, they deserve to be fleeced.

The phone book has nothing but legitimate phone numbers with addresses, and it’s free.

Is the CC charge (seemingly to be reversed, but not) a further attempt to “validate?”

I would think there wouldn’t be many who fall for this. After all, you already know it’s me because you called me knowing it was me.

I’ve set my phone where if the caller isn’t one of my contacts, it goes directly to voice mail. Anyone who has a legitimate need to speak with me will leave a msg. Scammers or telemarketers won’t (usually).

Just a semi-funny story; I got a call from someone claiming to be from social security. Obviously a scam, and I let her have it. A few minutes later my lawyer called. The call was a legitimate call from social security about my recently applied for disability claim. Oops. I did some serious apologizing.

You’re lucky.
All I get is fax tones.
I WISH I could mess with them.

No one ever went broke underestimating just how stupid people are.

One need only look at 8 years of clinton, 8 years of obozo and biden and his cadre of hos to for hard proof.

I often wonder how often that happens when an average person who for some reason is to be recognized gets a REAL call from the White House.

I used to love to mess with telemarketers (when I had the time). For example, I would put on my best Jim Nabors/Gomer Pyle impression and pretend to be super-super eager about whatever product they were pitching. I would ask lots and lots of questions, each one more inane than the last. For example, if they were selling vinyl siding, I might ask "What happens if I have it put on and don't like the color. Can you guys come back and repaint it with a different color?" Eventually the telemarketer would reach a breaking point and hang up in exasperation.

I don't do that anymore because people are crazy and now they know where you live.

I got a call from a recruiter for a mega church long time ago. When asked if I had a religious affiliation, I told him that I belonged to the church of Elvis. Our purpose was to search out the anti-Elvis and eliminate him.

Guy hung up quick.

I don't answer calls that I don't recognize the caller ID.

But if I did I would demand that they give me info that they wouldn't know unless they were legit.

I wish we could get my MIL to do that. She falls for every scam and can't resist answering the phone.

I always mess with them — I ask if its okay to use a stolen CC ... sometimes they ask if I have any more...

Plus - if they ask for an address I give them one that is a Democrat representative ...

There are CC generators you can spin up real quick to grab fake CC numbers and expiration dates.. it’s alot of fun wasting their time...

I sometimes leave off the last 4 numbers of the CC and go right into the Exp date — then they ask for the last four - and I say again - the Exp Date is XX/XX and it really makes them mad...

There have been hackers that have reversed hacked them — but they don’t use that program anymore — word got out...

Recently I used a soundboard from Scar Face — they seem to love it !
