Congress was full of WWII vets in the late 40’s to early 70 or so.
WWII vets ran the country in the sixties. At the time, your school teacher, college professor, doctor, dentist, lawyer, or accountant was likely to be a WWII vet. When the Boomers (of which I am one) began to replace them, the country began to slide downhill.
