The Arab League of 22 Muslim nations failed to pass a resolution condemning the peace agreement between Israel and the United Arab Emirates.
After three hours of discussion the League members decided to drop the topic and move on.
In a historic first Israel and the UAE announced a peace agreement in August. The Trump White House was instrumental in brokering the deal. This was a major step toward peace in the Middle East.
Democrats attacked the peace agreement and bumbling Joe Biden took credit for the deal.
Israel National News reported:
The Arab League on Wednesday failed to pass a resolution proposed by the Palestinian Authority (PA) which would have condemned the normalization deal between Israel and the United Arab Emirates, Times of Israel reports.
After a three-hour debate, some Arab countries refused to include [a] statement condemning [the UAE] for abandoning Arab decisions. Additionally, they struck out a clause which discussed the trilateral agreement between the UAE, the US, and Israel, the PA representative to the Arab League, Muhannad al-Aklouk, was quoted as having told the Maan news agency.
Senior Arab League official Hussam Zaki said, Discussion around this point was serious and comprehensive. But it did not lead to agreement over the resolution proposed by the Palestinians.
Zaki said the PA representatives had insisted they would either accept a condemnation of the agreement or no statement on the issue at all.
A number of amendments were proposed, and then counter-amendments and we were at a point in which Palestinian demands had not been realized, and the Palestinians preferred it not to pass rather than have it pass in a manner which they believed to be inadequate, Zaki said.
Palestinians getting that sinking feeling that comes when people start seeing you as a cost center rather than a profit center.
“Peace IS the Prize.”
Love it.
Palestine isn’t even a country.
the Arab invasion of the Jewish Promised Land (per their own Korans) is over. it lost out, thankfully.
the only remaining issue is their safe repatriation back to Arabia (and Egypt, Iraq, etc.). Normally, there’d be enough family and tribal solidarity to take back their own. But after all these years of watching (and funding and enabling and arming) terrorist attacks on innocent people, the Arab countries don’t want to bring their creation home. Can’t say I blame them, but it is still their responsibility and it is clear that they know how to deal with Arab terrorism better than does the West
Uh oh. Like a lawyer who shouldnt ask any question he doesnt the answer to, so the Palestinians should not have brought this up unless they knew they had 12 votes. This is a body blow
At some point refusing to take even a qualified “yes” for an answer has its downsides. Oddly enough, I give BJ great credit for his Mideast peace efforts because they smoked the PLO out as nothing but an Alinskyite organization devoted to nothing but terror and disruption that was totally unwilling to make any reasonable moves to a mutually satisfactory and productive peace.
Their problem is the PLO created a giant open air reverse mental hospital dedicated to turning inbred, genetic mental defectives into psychotic wannabe mass murderers who can’t and won’t be integrated into any productive society. After all, with whom have several generations of
Palestinians” confined to the Gaza Strip been copulating and interbreeding without any enforcement mechanism designed to prevent inbreeding?
Arab nations are realizing that normal relations with Israel is good for business and a counterbalance to the Iranian threat. Palestine has been a pawn and now expendable to all except Iran
‘I feel the earth move under my feet.
I feel the sky tumblin’ down!”
That entire twrrorist best needs to be cleaned out good !
Even in the Arab world: Money talks and BS walks.
“Money talks”
You bet.
When it comes to choosing sides between the PLO and the UAE, the UAE has the money.
Beyond just the money, the UAE has the know how to make things work. Dubai is the pride of the Arab speaking world - the first example that they put forward if accused of being backward, or unsuccessful. They all want to be Dubai.
Also, Emiratis are family. When you look at the tribes, and the wider tribal groupings. Palestinians are much less wired into the main tribes, except for Jordan.
Everybody in the region needs to do business in Dubai and the UAE - it is overwhelmingly important as a logistical base, meeting place and where to go to get incorporated. They only thing that makes Palestinian territories attractive, is access to Israel.
The Arab governments in general view the Palestinians as, at best, a convenient symbol for use when necessary to distract their populations from their own corruption and incompetence. Otherwise, they’re a burden on resources and a fifth column within the countries hosting their camps. Even if they cared a whit about the Palestinians, the Iranian threat “trumps” all.
