Interestingly enough, it did happen. When there was civil war in an African kingdom like the Kongo, the losing nobility was enslaved and sold to Europeans to get them out of the way.

Just the other day I read an account of a female slave disembarking in Colombia, reputed to be a noblewoman, who acted very haughtily towards the others and refused to work until she was given the lash.

Sic transit gloria mundi.

Except that her proclamation that she’s a “Queen” can’t be proved. Of course, in our unfortunate new reality, you can be anything you say you are.
