Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN) released a statement on the Supreme Court nomination on Sunday.
Alexander, who is known for being a RINO, actually stood with President Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and said he will vote on Trumps SCOTUS nominee.
No one should be surprised that a Republican Senate majority would vote on a Republican Presidents Supreme Court nomination, even during a presidential election year, Senator Alexander said.
He added, The Constitution gives senators the power to do it. The voters who elected them expect it. Going back to George Washington, the Senate has confirmed many nominees to the Supreme Court during a presidential election year. It has refused to confirm several when the President and Senate majority were of different parties.
Sen. Alexander blasted the Democrats: Senator McConnell is only doing what Democrat leaders have said they would do if the shoe were on the other foot.
I have voted to confirm Justices Roberts, Alito, Sotomayor, Gorsuch and Kavanaugh based up their intelligence, character and temperament. I will apply the same standard when I consider President Trumps nomination to replace Justice Ginsburg, Alexander said.

I forgot about this RINO..maybe he can talk to the other RINOS...
I’m not sure of the score card.
How many are (as of right now) definitely out?
That could change with enough pressure but I think we will have 50.
Wow! When you’ve lost a RINO like him... Collins, Romney take note.
The way your worded that...like a species of animal..LOL
Excellent!
Romney appears to be good friend with Lamar A. and his constituents in Utah are still pissed about the Impeachment vote.
Okay, who put the pods in his cellar?!
We will get to 50. What would the point of NOT voting to confirm? You are more noble? You are more fair? You can reach across the aisle? I thought we were all past that by now. I mean they IMPEACHED Donald Trump over NOTHING. This is payback. Not even payback really. Just politics.
Good, he was one of the ones I was worried about.
Thanks. That was funny.
That’s a good sign.
I am even optimistic about Mitt, because I’m sure his constituents want this pick, it’s not about Trump to them.
Portman, Alexander, McSally, Thune, Tillis have all signed on; so we are at 51 (without Collins and Murk) and need 50. Other than Romney, the only ones still out there who worry me are: 1) Burr; and 2) Gardner. I think Gardner will come along (he will have no chance of beating Hickenlooper if he loses the GOP base which this would do) but I wonder about Burr who is under investigation and let that odious Mark Warner run the Senate Intel Committee.
Great post.
I’m WAY past it.
I hated the RIP posts for that ghoul baby killer the other day. I hope she never rests in peace unless she incredibly asked forgiveness for all of the horrors she voted for on her death bed.
The gentleman loser days of the R party are over. Trump got rid of them.
No one ever accused Collins of being a dyed in wool Conservative and she’s in a tough reelection battle. Romney is just jealous and spiteful
Murkowski, Alaska. Maybe Collins of Maine. I definitely read Murkowski is out, but only heard talk here about Collins...
Romney said he will allow vote, and now Alexander, so that leaves Sasse of Nebraska. What about Burr of NC?
Translation. Alexander thinks that he has a deal with Trump on a nominee. I don’t know who it is, and Trump may have told Alexander that he will consider his choice, but a deal was made.
Thanks man.
Trump can be quite persuasive and mitch has shown some courage the past few years.
I think we will be good to go.
Yes!
So far the Democrats only have Collins and Murkowsky.
I don’t think Mitch would be sticking his neck out of his shell unless he had the votes.
