This stuff about Covid deaths are not really Covid deaths . . . PUT IT AWAY. It’s not important and here is why.
Excess Deaths are way up compared to previous years. These are Deaths of ALL CAUSES. There is no attribution of death issue. It’s ALL CAUSES.
In fact, the excess deaths exceed the official Covid death total. Why? Almost certainly because of the huge number of old folks living at home, probably alone, who get infected and try to tough it out. It overwhelms them one night/day and kills them. Then the ambulance eventually shows up from reports of smell, finds a dead old person, and takes him to the morgue. Why bother testing at that point. He’s dead.
So you get a lot of unreported Covid deaths.
Exactly right. Also, in the early part of the epidemic, a LOT of COVID-19 deaths were misattributed to heart of lung problems or dementia because the doctors didn’t have the information or the testing available to properly diagnose COVID-19. There’s probably around 40,000 deaths from March/April that should have been COVID-19 but weren’t.
The REAL questions are NOT around the specific number of deaths, but about WHY those deaths got so high. For example, WHY did Governor Cuomo and others force nursing homes to accept infected patients, leading directly to tens of thousands of unnecessary deaths? WHY were elderly care facilities not provided the resources to help them protect their staff and patients from infection? WHY were the states not stockpiling PPE to ensure hospital workers had what they needed to effectively care for sick patients in an emergency? WHY did Governor Newsom in California dump tens of millions of taxpayer dollars into putting homeless people into hotels (indoors) when their normal living situation (outdoors) was specifically called out as safer by the CDC?
When you start digging into the WHY of the numbers rather than focusing on whether it’s 253,000 or 251,000 or 255,000, you start getting REAL answers and those answers don’t look good for Democrats!
