His assertion that “right-wing” terrorists pose the greatest terrorist threat to our country is a sop to his new paymasters and a selling out of the people who made his career.
General David Petraeus, for many years (decades?) lauded as the greatest and most successful soldier of his generation, just insulted, in terms paradoxically both implicit and vicious, the men who made both his military renown and his post-military success and wealth possible.
“The most significant terrorist threat in the United States is not actually from Islamist extremists, it’s from right-wing terrorists in our own country,” he recently said to a gathering of elites.
This assertion, in a sense, is unremarkable given that it has become a common ruling-class talking point. It’s a lie, of course. Your own senses tell you so. When was the last time you even heard of a “right-wing” terror attack, much less one that actually inflicted mass casualties?
Sure, the ruling class and its propaganda arm tell you that they happen all the time, but they’re lying. They don’t lie merely by predicting waves of rightist violence that never materialize—though they do predict that, often.
Remember all those “warnings” of right-wing terror that would rock America in the event of a Trump loss? Allegedly violent Trump supporters have an even stronger case than mere loss to be angry, given the fishiness of the election and their belief that it was stolen. And yet none have so much as broken a window, much less committed any acts of terror. The one major demonstration in Washington, D.C. was entirely, not “mostly,” peaceful—that is, until leftist thugs showed up to beat on the marchers. Beatings which the same people who, naturally, never apologized for being wrong about imminent right-wing violence just as naturally never mentioned.

I thought this guy disappeared.
Guess he was just laying low unitl he thought the deep state commies had stolen an election. He's not a smart man after all.
Too bad the article didn’t structure his article by presenting Petraeus’s evidence that we have a corrupt right-wing ruling class and then giving an analysis of the evidence.
We waste a lot of time reading through these things.
“The most significant terrorist threat in the United States is not actually from Islamist extremists, it’s from right-wing terrorists in our own country,”
Tell that to the 3,000+ families who lost love ones on 9/11
That’s a typical Democrat talking point. And like typical Democrat talking points it’s historically inaccurate. But why would Petraeus mindlessly regurgitate a Democrat talking point? If he’s angling for a job in Joke’s (actually Harris’s) administration he sure started off right
Let’s not forget that Janet Napolitano said the same thing acting in the Obama administration.
Looking back, they are correct. The right wing is the only thing that will save America from their heinous plans.
The author, Michael Anton, wrote an excellent book “The Stakes-America at the Point of No Return”, and I thought this was a well written article.
It fill me with contempt for this man who would say such a thing, and the author outlines just why I feel that way.
I honor people’s service. But not when they turn around and betray their country and urinating on the graves and mangled bodies of men who made his current wealth possible, which is what Petraeus has done by making that statement.
Even more so: The greatest threat to our Republic is the Left in all of its forms (Media and the Democrat Party) and the Deep State.
Sad to say, Petraeus seems to be part of that group.
Ping.
Who did he make this statement to? And when?
It’s not true now, but if the swamp creatures succeed in illegitimately bulldozing the presidency and the Senate, then start running roughshod over the Constitution, it’s likely they’ll encounter widespread popular resistance, some of highly focused and quite kinetic.

I really, really, hope there will be some governmental support for resistance at the State level (FL, TX, etc).
