He may have been accurate for the time, I’m too young to know. He was *beyond* accurate *way* ahead of his time, however.

George Carlin himself is really stupid to think God, the Bible, and business is behind out country’s corruption.

IT’S THE TYRANNY OF THE 80% $4+ TRILLION PORTION OF THE ROGUE FEDERAL GOVERNMENT, STUPID!

“ George Carlin himself is really stupid to think God, the Bible, and business is behind out country’s corruption.”

That’s not what he said. He said that is what they hide behind. It is their facade. Looks and sounds good, but it isn’t real.

He said people hide behind God and the Bible. (Good place to hide. Everybody hides behind something. What was he hiding behind? ).

He also said the BIG club that controls everything and is behind the corruption is Big Business. What a crock.

It’s corrupt, illegal government that is the true root cause of our malaise.

It’s from 2005. I disagree with many conclusions of his, but he was very creative and intelligent.

Oh, he was definitely to the left on a great many things - and I thought his “you ain’t in it” was older than 2005, ie: he did it before. My mistake.

“but he was very...intelligent.”

I’d eat a Stetson for every point his IQ exceeded 100.

Let me tell you a George Carlin story.

Right before he died he was clearly suffering, but went on Imus (Sally was helping him constantly by his side at this point and literally sat next to him at Imus) and said his mother had gone to the abbatoir to abort him. She was sitting in the waiting room and became focused on a large painting, typical dr room painting.

He said she suddenly got up and left.

Man, you could have heard a pin drop. Imus had to catch his breath.

Carlin (lapsed Catholic, not Jewish as everyone thinks) wanted so badly to name God on the spot but of course he would have had to reject his 50 years of lame agnostic schtick (again, not atheist as everyone thinks but had a weak notion of deism).

Because every Liberal, ever, is stupid?

Bill Maher is a scumbag, but he isn’t stupid.
There are many intelligent people who, for whatever reason, come to completely different conclusions.
I think many are due to lack of morals or lack of pragmatism.

George wasn’t wrong on too many things. A bit of a lefty libertarian, but he never sought to destroy this nation as liberals do.

In his early days Carlin would fun of Catholicism but in a much more benign way.

The diocese, in this rare display of tokenism in the early Fifties sent one Spanish priest...Father Rivera...to hear Spanish confessions. And all the Irish guys that were heavily into puberty... would go to confession to Father Rivera. ‘Cause he didn’t seem to understand the sins, y’know...or at least he didn’t take them personally, you know. It wasn’t an affront to him. There was no big theological harangue; he didn’t chew you out. He was known as a “light penance”. In and out, three “Hail, Mary’s”, you’re back on the street with Father Rivera, man. You could see the line move; that’s how fast he was working.

“Because every Liberal, ever, is stupid?”

No, because I followed Carlin’s career from the early 1970s. I remember when he first began to present himself as a creature of the counter-culture. I believe I have heard or read everything he wrote or said for public consumption.

Of course, I myself changed a lot over those decades. I think, and hope, that my powers of discernment improved to some small decree. In any case, his lack of candlepower became increasingly apparent down the years.

He became more cynical and bitter with every passing year, until his “comedy” became a thing that seemed humorous only to the kind of hipster doofus who wept at the defeat of the Arkansas Medusa.

Very intelligent? Not even by comparison to Forrest Gump.

Neither is he very bright.

To Carlin's eternal credit he nailed it when it comes to environmentalism (language warning)
