Ever since I can remember, Prager has advocated “civility”, which means niceness. Niceness is a Jewish religious value to the point that niceness is a religion. To be impolite is one of the gravest of Jewish sins. This was written about by sociologist John Murray Cuddihy in his books The Ordeal of Civility and No Offense: Civil Religion.
So when a totalitarian takeover of America occurred with the arguably overhyped virus epidemic, what did most Americans do? They were “nice” and did not want to offend anyone by not wearing a mask. Ergo, Prager has unintentionally been expounding the passive response to totalitarianism that we now see. I agree with him about passivity but I think he ought to look in a mirror.
A well made observation. Dennis is a gentleman. I think he has far more backbone than people might think, but he is from a generation and life experience that believes you can politely stand against tyranny.
I think many of us are reexamining that belief now. Scary times.
