Ute Indian Tribe Lashes Out at Biden Admin For Restricting Federal Energy Development, “Direct Attack on Our Economy and Sovereignty”

Remember when the tribal leaders were “optimistic” about Joe Biden and overwhelmingly voted for him?

The honeymoon is already over for the Ute Indian Tribe in Utah.

Joe Biden wasted no time destroying tens of thousands of jobs his first day in office by canceling the construction of the Keystone XL pipeline.

Biden also put a 60-day moratorium on new oil and natural gas leases and drilling permits on federal lands and states in the west and southwest are furious.

The Ute Indian Tribe in Fort Duchesne, Utah blasted the Biden Administration’s restrictions on federal energy development.

“Your order is a direct attack on our economy, sovereignty, and our right to self-determination. Indian lands are not federal public lands. Any action on our lands and interest can only be taken after effective tribal consultation,” Luke Duncan, Chairman of the Ute Indian Tribe Business Committee wrote in a letter to Acting Secretary of the Interior.

Mr. Duncan accused the Biden Administration of violating the US Treaty and trust responsibilities to the Ute Indian Tribe and violating the “important principles of tribal sovereignty and self-determination.”

OUCH.

“The Order must be withdrawn or amended to comply with Federal law and policies,” Duncan wrote.

They (Obamas) forced shutdown of the Navajo power plant. With the associated Black mesa coal mine and the connecting railroad, it provided like 30% of Navajo tribe income and like 60% of Hopi tribe income. It costed about thousand jobs, almost all Navajo and Hopi tribal members. The plant was pretty much the only large enterprise in the Navajo-Hopi reservations area.
Real devastation for the tribes.
But they are planning some solar projects instead!

I believe the Utes can drill on their own lands, since the tribal laws overrule federal rules on tribal lands, IIRC.

”Wasn't one of the major causes of Japan's declaration of war was the restrictions to their ability to obtain natural resources needed for economic sovereignty?”

At the time, Japan’s “ability to obtain natural resources needed for economic sovereignty” seemed to include violating the actual sovereignty of China.

So does stupidity. I wonder who the Indians voted for?

I don’t know, but my guess would be Biden.

Just like how you’re not black unless you voted for Biden, the same is probably true for all Native Americans, also.

One of the many consequence of this election will be those Biden supporters I know hearing me say:

“Oh well ... I tried to tell you and I tried to warn you.
Next time listen to your friend and not CNN.”

But I won’t say: “I told you so.” Nope, not me.

I saved the “Elections have consequences” they gave me last time to serve up in moments like this, instead.

It tastes better to me now after it’s been aged a bit.

Bittersweet flowing across my tongue, with just a touch of spice to make it especially memorable to the palate.

Biden doesn’t have a clue what the hell he is signing!!

Making him the perfect POTUS for those who placed him there!

“You! Yeah, you, Ben Dover. You’re about to be screwed.”

It was an accident but the other driver was not a drunk driver who caused it.

he fired the Black head of the White House staff.

I did not know that the White House staff was political. If a Republican had done this, he would have been called a racist. Instead I had not even heard about it until now.
