[Wasn’t one of the major causes of Japan’s declaration of war was the restrictions to their ability to obtain natural resources needed for economic sovereignty?]

Yes!

21 Jan: Edmonton Sun: Protesters win, everyone else (including environment) loses in Keystone XL cancellation
by Lorne Gunter
Even if the Keystone XL pipeline from Alberta to Nebraska is never built — which now seems a certainty — the oil will still be extracted from the ground.
It will still be transported to North American and world refineries. Its carbon dioxide will still be emitted.
Indeed, it is entirely possible that by cancelling the pipeline, as new U.S. President Joe Biden did on his first day in office on Wednesday, he has actually increased the emissions that will be released getting Canadian oilsands oil to market.
Rail transportation is more “emissions intensive” than delivery by pipeline...

All the protesters and anti-oil politicians have succeeded in doing is killing 20,000 to 30,000 jobs in Canada and the United States...
A consortium of four Canadian First Nations, for instance, is out as much as $700 million in Keystone investments thanks to Biden’s move.
Thousands of members of at least four major U.S. trade unions will miss out on about three years of well-paid work...

22 Jan: Breitbart: Biden Kills Up to 70,000 Jobs on First Day in Office
by Joel B. Pollak
Biden revoked the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline, as promised. In so doing, he killed some 11,000 direct jobs that the pipeline’s construction was to have created, and an estimated 60,000 indirect jobs in secondary, related industries...

Moreover, on Thursday, the Biden Administration announced that it had suspended oil and gas permits on federal land Wednesday. It is unclear how many jobs that will cost — but the outlook is not good...

My junior high history teacher was my favorite ever. Drank a whole thermis of black coffee and Jameson by ten o'clock every day. Best teacher ever. He had nine kids and sold appliances at Sears at nights. My parents bought all our stuff from him and kept him in Jameson gift boxes back when that stuff was just okee-dokee.

Every test and quiz was all essay. His wife knew the subject matter and graded all his papers.

Made me a history addict.
