The US military Hates the AK47! An Untrained person can spray out a very deadly round which in some cases a bullet proof vest does not protect. Trained personnel like the AR16, but hate to go up against the AK47. A group of drugged enemy will keep shooting after numerous 5.56 hits. This is why the US Army is looking to used large caliper round.

If the comparison was made back in the sixties then the winner would be hands down the AK-47. But, over the past fifty years there has been continuous improvement made on the M-16 and its variants. So, if doing a comparison on today’s models I vote for the M-16.
