Think back to 1983. The USSR was living in poverty but had an enormous and dangerous nuclear arsenal. For all the fulminating about the Russian danger in the world today, their army was ten times the size of today’s, and it was poised right there across the border.
So imagine if in about 1983, if Reagan had decided to open free trade with the USSR and drop and algae bloom of money on their head. Think about him allowing the steel belt, Detroit, and the early versions of silicon valley to move their factories there and paying them to do it.
Lets further say he allowed floods of Soviet scientists to fill our universities.
The USSR wouldn’t have become enlightened and reformed. They would have been enriched. They would have never fallen, and today we would be faced with a wealthy USSR that was more dangerous than we could ever imagine.
That is exactly what idiots like the Bush and Clinton families did to us in China. You don’t enrich a menace expecting decency.
There are better Christians than me, but I remember how I was raised. But it’s amazing how much wisdom there was in the things I was taught. The Bible mentions something about Esau selling his birthright for a bowl of stew. America’s birthright was sold.
America’s birthright was sold for a bowl of ramen.................
You make me feel like a prophet. At least 10 years ago I was posting that: we have become like Esau selling his birthright for a bowl of pottage. Things have deteriorated so badly that I have forgotten that.
Lee Smith is a blast from the past: a knowledgeable and wise journalist/writer. His book, The Plot Against the President singularly captures the flesh and scope of the conspiracy to overthrow a popularly elected president and the suppression of Devin Nunes's effort to expose it.
