2 Senators Flip-Flop on Keystone XL Pipeline, Thwarting GOP Bid to Save It

Two Democratic senators—Sens. Joe Manchin of West Virginia and Jon Tester of Montana—who initially voted in favor of a Republican amendment reversing President Joe Biden’s cancellation of the Keystone XL pipeline later reversed themselves and voted with other Democrats to kill the amendment.

Both Tester and Manchin voted late Thursday night for the amendment from Sen. Steve Daines, R-Mont., that would have reversed Biden’s Jan. 20 executive order ending further construction of the Keystone XL oil pipeline, but changed their votes before dawn on Friday morning.

I am of two minds about this.

On the one hand, its nonsense that Dementia Joe is taking staeps that reduce US oil production even while increasing the price of oil.

On the other hand, the more Joe Dementia bans oil drilling on federal lands etc, the higher the price of oil and the more money red states like Texas, Oklahoma, North Dakota, South Dakota etc make. Blue states like New Mexico on the other hand, have a dispassionate percentage of their oil on federal lands. I wm not going to lose too much sleep over them.

Tester pretends to be a rough and tough Montana rancher then he votes with the leftists on all the key issues, even those detrimental to his state. He has been fortunate to run in good Dem years - 2012 and 2018 - but is up for reelection in 2024. Manchin is the same - he will get a vote recorded with the Rs when it doesn’t matter - such as on Kavanaugh bc Collins was voting for him and Murkowski against him so the vote was 52-48. Here both their votes matter and anyone in the energy industry in Montana and WVA should darn well remember. You can expect them to do exactly the same thing on DC statehood, the expansion of the Supreme Court and every other leftwing issue of importance while publicly mouthing all the right words in opposition.

Surprise, surprise, surprise. Just as the Sun rises in the morning, Democrats vote as a single voice. Why don’t we just replace all the Democrats and Republicans with jackasses and elephants? Benefits are:
1. It’s cheaper. No salaries, no benefits, no pensions and no staff.
2. It’s less messy. The cleanup with the animals would be quick.
3. We wouldn’t have to hear the people so enamored with their own voice.
4. Less legislation passed, the better off we all are.
