Sorry but I argue amber would be confused. A new concept of a green front brake light cannot be confused with anything else except a go light. which in essence, it is.

I think the nursing staff are looking for you in the common room.
You know it’s time they start counting the retards.
You better get back in your room or you won’t get any pie tomorrow.

It's your pet idea, so you're married to Green.
I might accept the Amber solution as practical, as it conveys the information you are wishing to indicate, and in a manner that people are already accustomed to seeing.
But reject totally a new green front indicator for braking.

Just like when I see a vehicle braking in front of me because something has run out ahead, I want to see the second an oncoming vehicle’s brake lights come on too. And though I want to be sure i am seen and a driver is braking for me as a pedestrian. The people behind the driver get to know he is braking, but for me to want that same information is “stupid”. I guess it should be just on a need to know basis right. Let me guess, you also think using you turn signal is only for stupids as well.

Please seek professional help, and in the meantime, go spend several more months writing another piece of nanny-state drivel. Just make sure next time to post it on a site where someone gives a sh!t.

I hear you, but again, multifunction amber lights flashing or blinking will be confused. The signal has to be absolutely unambiguous. Even red wouldnt work for risk of being confused with the rear of a vehicle in low light conditions. Maybe not green, but it cannot be any other color already in use. Blue is for cops, purple is for fire engines, JMO

I see the point on treating the car light like a traffic signal. But in my mind, red lights lighting up on a car indicate it is stopping. Either way - the idea is not without merit (I really like the bull moose thinking). And folks would learn to figure out the green or red lights.
Hmm - I bet somebody could write 20 pages on why cars should be like boats and have green running lights on one side and red on the other!

What do ya do with all those who routinely ride their brake? What if someone momentarily brakes for whatever reason when you’re getting ready to cross a crosswalk and you think they’re braking for you? Are you going to walk out in from of a vehicle just because some light comes on? I sure in hell wouldn’t.
I’ve seen the results of people going under the wheels. Not me.

Is this simply a matter of never really looking deeply into the subject, or am I missing something more obvious from your argument?
I think we are discussing different philosophical underpinnings. I am not a radical libertarian, particularly when it comes to the public roads. On the other hand, I am not a utopianist either, and accept that driving two tons vehicles at highway speeds will result in some number of accidents and even deaths.
I have had 1965-1976 cars as daily drivers for most of my adult life, well into the 2000s, and appreciate the comparative simplicity and ability to have true ownership of the car compared to the cars that are largely built around mandates and electronics.
I also fear that introducing new features to fix a problem creates unintentional new problems.
For example, newer automobiles are required to have a higher belt line in order to contend with taller light trucks. That reduced window visibility so much that rear view cameras and monitors are practically mandated in all new vehicles. Fixing one safety problem creates another safety problem. Both additions add to the weight of that automobile, which makes it harder to meet CAFE standards.
Just one more thing sometimes means more than one more thing.
