On Sunday night, Claudia Conway’s highly anticipated American Idol audition aired during the Season 19 premiere. The 16-year-old has been in the news a lot over the past several months, and has racked up over a million TikTok followers.
Claudia has taken breaks from social media in the past, but she returned to Twitter this weekend to talk about her experience on Idol. She also posted plenty of honest thoughts on Instagram and TikTok.
In the days leading up to her audition airing, Claudia posted on TikTok that she was “not happy” about it. She added that she was “nervous and sick” at the time. However, she continued to promote her appearance, and defended herself on Twitter against claims that it was a publicity stunt.
Claudia wrote that she was “vocally trained and in music for most of my life and did this on my own merit.” She added that she wasn’t pressured into auditioning, calling it a “really amazing opportunity” and saying she’s “coming into my own and creating a name for MYSELF.”
Still, Claudia was nervous about watching her audition, posting on Instagram that she was “not ready for this.” She tagged American Idol and asked if the show could “make a last minute change and not air my audition.”
She later apologized to fans on TikTok, calling her audition “god awful” and adding, “I promise I do not sound like that.” She said she had strep throat, and told fans it “gets good” when she performs in Hollywood Week.

I agree with her that it was “god awful”. I’ll be surprised if she doesn’t always sound like that. I don’t watch the show anymore, but I might take a look at her later performances on youtube which is where I saw her audition.
She’s got a small talent, not good enough. It’s obvious they put her through to the next round because of who she is, not because of her vocals. Also, she’s not a very pretty girl and I suspect that explains some of her emotional problems. Lastly, I didn’t realize that daddy is an ugly slob himself. Ugh!

Wow - I’m not going to hold back - she isn’t the prettiest, and she contorts her face - and she can’t sing for anything. So yes, just listening to Katy Perry spew her ‘poor you’ tripe - this is a total Trump victim ploy for ratings. It’s certainly not for any ounce of talent.

Edited to add that you cannot help what you look like initially. Expect a Khloe Kardashian metamorphosis (surgically).
Also, surgery cannot change your vocal cords.
Additionally, the fact that she got a golden ticket to advance was totally due to her teenage dysfunction and was politically based via her never-Trump father, and solely not based on talent!

What I found interesting was the extremely supportive comments about her “performance” on Youtube’s video of her audition. Commenters fell all over each other trying to leave utterly libtard comments. Gads, she is ugly, but no one said anything about her looks (or lack thereof). And her voice is no better than the average enthusiastically bellowed aria in the shower, yet one judge gave her another chance with a different song. I don’t recall them bending over backwards for any other candidate like that. It was totally obvious that she was there in the first place solely due to her parents’ jobs and that she made it to the second tier of competition was just blatant politics being played. So what did she learn? She can viciously reveal family secrets on public media, she can be hateful and arrogant to her mother, and yet those two idiot parents show up at this farce to cheer her on!
