Eh...I'm not a fan of boycotting SF authors just because I don't like their politics outside of their writing. He's written some really good alternative history stuff, and his works aren't infested with leftist politics. Try the Videssos series if you like Roman history. Pretty cool.

I’m with you. If I start boycotting every writer whose personal politics I don’t like, I’ll miss out on a lot of good stories. I’ve read and enjoyed most of Harry Turtledove’s books.

He wrote a short piece once that I’d like to find again. It was just a page or two, written as if the New York Times were reporting on Pearl Harbor and the beginning of U.S. involvement in WWII. The reporting was so negative and defeatist that the U.S. ended up surrendering, as I recall. A lot of people here would see that piece as anti-American, no doubt, but I took it as a condemnation of the NYT.
