Don’t Blame Booming Gun Sales For Increases In Crime

One factor could be that just as law-abiding citizens went through legal channels to acquire firearms last year and into 2021, so too have criminals. It could be that criminals fear an armed law-abiding population and are responding in kind.

It is also important to note that year-over-year crime rates have been on the decline in recent decades even if 2020 reversed those numbers. At the same time, firearms sales have steadily increased. As a result, it is simply unlikely that the record number of legal firearms sales attributed to the increase in crime. Rather it just seemed criminals kept pace with firearms purchases, but bought guns on the black market.

Stop and frisk would be a proper form of gun control.

Urban ‘Rat Utopias are the primary area of interest.

Illegal gunz and illegal voting are apparently hand-maidens.

“Urban ‘Rat Utopias are the primary area of interest.”

Did anyone actually think those guys would buy groceries or diapers with THEIR stimulus check?

Increased crime is obviously a reason for more gun buying (there’s a line around my local gun store almost every day).

But...

Could the increase in gun sales possibly be b/c we don’t like the path the government is on?

I’m concerned with the lack of training opportunities for those 8 Million first time gun owners.

“It could be that criminals fear an armed law-abiding population and are responding in kind.”

The writer is missing the point. People don’t spend money just for the he(( of it. They work too hard for it.

But the major point the writer is missing is that crime was the reason for buying guns. If liberals are going to decrease the capacity of police across the country with their years of efforts like they’ve displayed, then the citizen will have to be proactive. So crime goes up, guns are purchased. But as crime goes down for fear of those guns, it doesn’t alleviate the need for the guns because if the guns go away, the crime comes back.

So the guns are not the devil. They are the tool of protection. And that’s not because they will kill someone. It’s because they can. And the criminals are aware of that.

I’ve had a loaded shotgun in the house for years. I take it out and clean and oil it. And I hope I never have to use it. The only use it’s had is on the range teaching my wife how to use it. But we’re prepared to if it comes to that. And a vast majority of the gun owners in the US won’t either just like me. So it’s up to the criminals to be criminals for me to react. Their choice. Take my protection away from me, and I increase their choices because they don’t fear unarmed cops. I hope they fear me. They better. I worked too hard for my freedoms. But me and mine won’t be harmed. And all I’m asking them is to leave me be. And that’s not too much for anyone to ask.

I had six thousand citizens ahead of my background check.

After two weeks there were still one thousand seven hundred two applicants ahead of mine.

The writer is missing the point.

In other words, about average for '19FortyFive'.

They plan to wait until there’s a shooting of 3 or more people by a Whitey. (Or by a “White Hispanic.”) That will serve as the justification for seizing guns from honest, non-violent citizens ONLY, while they deliberately leave them in the hands of violent criminals.

That’ll come this summer while our minds are on other things. You’ll know it’s about to happen when the media overplays one specific shooting and goes 24/7 full coverage with it like they did with George Floyd’s death.

No, a “Terry stop” requires articulable reasonable suspicion that a crime has, is or will be committed.
The mere presence of a weapon is not reasonable anything.

That said, if a cop suspects crime reasonably and articulably, then go ahead.

Frisking ugly and unsavory folks or pretty snd nice w/o such premise is a violation of our rights and is a crime unto itself.

Went to go pick up my latest gun from the gun shop. There was a lady ahead of me picking up her new, $750 Glock. She clearly had no idea how to use it. She knew nothing about loading it or cocking the gun to put a bullet in the chamber. The manager asked her if she was going to get training; she had no interest.

At one point, she waved the (unloaded, thank God) gun around. I and another guy jumped to get out of the line of fire. He strongly recommended she get training. It got to the point where the manager said he couldn’t in good conscience sell her ammo until she got some training. She stormed out of the shop, probably to buy ammo somewhere else.

“...about average for ‘19FortyFive’.”

Sad when it’s perpetual. But it’s so damned obvious even a Biden can get it. Had to replace Neanderthal with Joe. Otherwise I’d be racist rather than just insensitive. Cause Joe can’t figure out how to chew his food and Dr Jill chews it for him.

I suspect a straw purchase.

Loved the "went to buy ammo elsewhere" hahahaha -- likely 9mm-- hahahaha

Good point, didn’t think of that. The manager seemed pretty savvy, he may have considered taking action on it.

When I left with my purchase, I said to the manager “Good luck”. He replied “It’s all good” like he’s used to incidents like this. At the least I think he’s going to look into which employee had sold her the gun.

LACK of training opportunities? there are many trainers and courses out there - most not needing ammo (or very much). If you don’t look, you won’t see them.

I have over 100 hours of instructor lead training, so I know where to go for more.

With COVID restrictions and significantly increased demand, the wait times are quite long.
