After more years than I can remember, engaging in guerilla warfare as a member of the Partisan Resistance operating deep behind enemy lines, behind the Pink Curtain of Communist occupied California, I AM FINALLY FREE.
I have slipped the wire, crossed the mine field, thumbed my nose at the machine gun turrets, and am finally fulfilling the long-delayed dream of moving to the Eastern United States by fleeing this wretched cesspool of Marxism.
Good-bye, Gulag California!
I am headed to the lush green hills of eastern Tennessee where life is sane, my vote counts, my income is not taxed, my God-given Second Amendment Right can be exercised free from infringement just as designed by our wise and benevolent Founding Fathers. I am taking my tax dollars and 401k investments with me. Don’t worry. You can make it up my tax loss with a few dozen low-paid illegals now pouring over the border.
So GOOD-BYE, California, I am OUTTA here! I fart in your general direction. I have torn the pink curtain and fled the People’s Democratic Republic of California, never to return. Very possibly, never to set foot in the state again.
Good-bye, Yosemite National Park. Good-bye, Lake Tahoe. Good-bye, unbroken sunny blue skies and fabulous weather. You will all be sorely missed, but not much else.
My fellow resistance fighters, please rejoice with me and help to celebrate my escape from behind the Pink Curtain, and my impending return to the United States of America, for I no longer recognize anything of the original intent of her in the smoldering ruins of California.

I think the weather is overrated in California anyway. I know it’s regional, but hot and dry in S Cal can be had in many other states.
I visited Anaheim in the 90s and the air seemed to be full of burning tire. Was not impressed.
You will love the thunderstorms this time of year.

I’ve got my strategic retreat in rural TN just waiting for me. Problem is, I’m currently living in FL, and the choice is not as cut-and-dry.

Serious question: Are you going to admit to your new neighbors that you hail from California? I too am pondering a similar move and I feel the need to hide my state of origin as I do not want to be confused with my former neighbors....I know if I were a Tn. native I would certainly not appreciate the influx from enemy lands.
They leave then demand the same things in the place they’ve moved to; go into a small town and demand where is the Walmart, etc.
A few years ago on a driving trip through Tennessee, I thought, as we entered some small towns, how nice it would be to live in these towns.
