Welcome to Freedom, among those who defend her.
U-haul, not the sharpest tools in the shed, told us, "We should be able to get you a truck, you may have to drive a while to pick it up, but no guarantees."
Two weeks ago U-haul called to inform us that due to the ongoing CA diaspora, no truck would be available.
So we cancelled with U-haul and went with Penske. They seem a lot sharper.
Don’t tell anyone you are from California. You are not going to find a warm welcome.
I did the same 10 years ago. Never regretted it except when I go back to go to Universal Horror Nights once a year.
We are right behind you, next year my wife and I will be looking in Rural Kentucky or Tennessee, maybe Texas to buy property, then in 5 years we will sell the homes we own in California, keep the River House in AZ and get the Hell out of this Godforsaken Hellhole of a Tarnished State.
Dominion Voting Systems says Tennessee is theirs.
Did the house you sold in CA buy you a mansion for 1/4 of the cost in TN?
I wonder what will happen if the New California split is successful. I hear that They are making progress and that Illinois has begun proceedings for a split from Chicago.
Every time I get an itch to relocate, there’s a downside to anywhere but where I am — central PA. Mild climate, not many tornadoes, hurricanes, earthquakes; low taxes; gun friendly.
But I have to admit Tennessee is a bit warmer and they don’t have a state income tax, and they probably don’t have the tide of newcomers that we have here, mostly fleeing NY and NJ.
For sure you made a wise choice. My relatives who have property in CA spend less time every year out there and eventually will be fed up like you.
Congratulations!
I escaped almost two years ago and will not go back. I will visit only because my sons and my grandchildren still live there, but that is the only reason I will even visit.
I miss my beloved Yosemite, Sequoia, Lake Tahoe and many other beautiful places. I do not miss the heat, the smog, the fires, the traffic, the taxes, and most of all ....the attitude.
Please be aware that the appropriate action when an emergency vehicle approaches, is for you is to pull over when you can. Do not give them the one finger salute. I was shocked to learn that people not only pull over in other states, but that some actually stop and help when there is an accident or an emergency.
L.A. Freeway
Guy Clark
Pack up all your dishes
Make note of all good wishes
And say goodbye to the landlord for me
That son of a bitch has always bored me
Throw out them L.A. papers
And that mouldy box of Vanilla Wafers
Adios to all this concrete
Gonna get me some dirt road back streets
If I can just get off of this L.A. freeway
Without gettin’ killed or caught
I’ll be down the road in a cloud of smoke
To some land I ain’t bought, bought, bought
And it’s, here’s to you old Skinny Dennis
The only one I think I will miss
I can hear that old bass singin’
Sweet and low like a gift you’re bringin’
Play it for me one more time, now
Got to give it all you we can now
I believe every thing you’re sayin’
And just to keep on, keep on playin’
If I can just get off of this L.A. freeway
Without gettin’ killed or caught
I’ll be down the road in a cloud of smoke
To some land I ain’t bought, bought, bought
And you put the pink card in the mailbox
Leave the key in the front door lock
They’ll find it likely as not
I’m sure there’s somethin’ we have forgot
Oh, Susanna, don’t you cry, baby
Love’s a gift that surely handmade
We got somethin’ to believe in
Don’t you think it’s time we’re leavin’?
If I can just get off of this L.A. freeway
Without gettin’ killed or caught
I’ll be down the road in a cloud of smoke
To some land I ain’t bought, bought, bought
If I can just get off of this L.A. freeway
Without gettin’ killed or caught
Down the road in a cloud of smoke
To some land I ain’t bought
So pack up all your dishes
Make note of all good wishes
And say goodbye to the landlord for me
That son of a bitch has always bored me
Please remember to file California income tax forms for tax year 2021.
They’ll be looking for them and ‘their’ money.
I left CA in 2000. Went to the mountains of NE Washington. There was some sense of freedom there and no income tax. The dominance of the Seattle politics area finally was too much and I left that state for an undisclosed location. Happy on that choice for now and hopefully it remains so for the few remaining years I have left.
Good for you! My previous plan was to retire to Marysville, TN, but I got a better offer to stay here in Wisconsin and move to 160 acres - away from most of the Liberal nutcases that are a cancer in Wisconsin. ;)
Enjoy your new and improved life! :)
Please run through the car wash, to make sure there are no hangers-on.
Welcome home! 🥳
Oh my gosh! Are you my neighbor who lived just inside our neighborhood gate? If so we miss how you decorated for every holiday. We will soon be following you out of the Peoples Republic of California probably to St George, Utah or Prescott, Arizona. It will be so nice to have a vote that matters again. Several years ago I had to vote for a Democrat, Loretta Sanchez against the worst evil Karmala Harris for Senate. It broke my unblemished record of never voting for a Democrat and it broke my heart to have to do it. Congratulations on your escape!
I escaped in July to Arkansas. Welcome to free America!
If you can manage the winters, consider my home state South Dakota. No income tax and lots of good people. Sioux Falls is a vibrant community and only slightly tainted with liberals.
