Constitutional Carry Passes Texas House!
For years Texas lagged behind peers in support of the second amendment. Before today, 19 states had pro-gun laws on the books giving citizens the right to carry without a permit. Today, the Texas House of Representatives led by Matt Schaefer (Rep. - TX 6) and supported by a Republican majority passed constitutional carry.
The bill now moves to the Texas Senate where it is in the hands of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick and Senator Brian Birdwell.

My recollection was an open carry activist (nee lobbyist) put their foot in the door of a representatives office in the Texas Capital as the door was being closed.
A huge overblown deal was made and it set this back for two or three legislative sessions now.
Enthusiasm is great but temper it or you give those opposing something to really around which in the case had nothing to do with open carry.
I do hope if I have misremembered or mixed up different circumstances and events please pass on what actually occurred.

That may have happened but the big stink was going door to door in the then Speaker Dennis Bonnen’s neighborhood looking for support. Bonnen turned down the bill 3 years straight causing the frustration.
Texas Department of Public Safety will lobby hard against it. They always do. They manage to screw up every potential gun law out there. And then you have to get it by Bush clone Abbott.
