Offense or Defense

America was slow to go on the offensive in 1917 and in 1941, but in the end, America triumphed and saved western civilization twice. Can patriotic Americans again enter the game late to save America and the free world one more time?

I came of voting age in 1967, a few days after I returned to the United States from my first tour as an Army helicopter pilot in Vietnam. I was raised by a hard and fast Democrat, and as many of my generation, rather than learning about the ramifications of my vote, I voted the way my dad did because Democrats were always right (correct), and Republicans were always wrong. Not much thinking was necessary. Oddly enough, my best friend growing up was raised Republican, and we did have shallow discussions about politics through high school until I went in the Army. Oh, for the good old days when friends could actually have reasonable political discussions, but I digress. Sir Winston Churchill spoke of me once. He didn’t know he spoke of me, but he did.

“America was slow to go on the offensive in 1917 and in 1941”

America’s reasons for going on anything in 1917 are and were suspect; America was literally attacked by Japan in December of 1941. Going on offense that year would have been quite a feat. The current threat is mainly from within. Will we take our own side?

The end result of WWI allowed for the rise of Bolshevism and Hitler.

Would have been better off had the Germans won.

The sinking of the Lusitania comes to mind.

Because the Lusitania was sending weapons to Britain.

And Britain had a crippling Naval Blockade of Germany.

A true neutral would have told Britain that we would not risk our ships to aid them.

An intriguing point. U.S. involvement in WWI is often greatly overstated. The outcome did lead to the Weimar Republic, which might be our current state, trannies and all. Yay.

I hope Clemenceau and Hitler are forever bound together in Hell.

It was clandestinely carrying munitions, therefore a legitimate target.

Britain should have stayed out of the war, too. It cost her the Empire.

Sunk in May of 1915, U.S. declares war in April of 1917. Took a couple of years for us to react to the sinking of a British ship.

The Propaganda Machine had yet to go into full force.

True, but it caught up. The Evil “Kaiser Bill” was ripping babies out of incubators or something. It always catches up and catches fools.

Belgium. I have never been there, but I imagine a place that is responsible for International Law, the Metric System, soccer, and Esperanto. Like France combined with The Netherlands, only worse. That is probably unfair.

Overall, their beer is pretty good. So there’s that. Granted, they probably serve it in some metric thing and tax it to hell because of climate change or some crap. Durned Belgians.
