Illinois Democrat Rep. Cheri Bustos announced Friday she would retire from Congress after this term.
“As I turn every corner on each decade of life, I take time to reflect and evaluate what my next chapter might bring,” she said in a statement. “That’s how, 10 years ago, I decided to run for Congress. And it’s why, today, I am announcing I will not seek reelection after completing this term.”
Bustos represents a district in northwestern Illinois that has shifted to the right.
Donald Trump won her district twice, and she won reelection by a narrower margin than expected in 2020.

If the Dems hadn’t rigged the Census results, their Blue states would have lost more seats and Red States would have gained more.
Pelosi is never retiring. She will die in office, although Satan may grant her many more years to torture Americans.
My guess is that her seat will be the one redistricted out of existence. Might as well take one for the team up front.
Tough break for the Dems. She’s one of the few Democrat women in office who doesn’t have a face that looks like it was repeatedly hit with an Ugly Stick.

Maybe, but I doubt it. IMO, one of the few remaining Republican districts will be absorbed by surrounding Democrat districts. If I counted correctly 11 of 53 representatives are Republicans. More than I thought actually...
Chicago’s WGN, Channel 9, news just had her on. She said something along the lines of: “this is a new decade and thus time for a new generation.....”
I also had the thought that she was resigning knowing that one of the Dem Congress critters was going to loose their district, though the Illinois Dems will do their hardest to eliminate on of the Republican districts instead.
Illinois dropped from 18 to 17.

Looking at some of the legislation she has been part of lately. . .she may be looking at a cush next job.

She must make more of them, with HR1, as she stirs the blackened cauldron over fires of hate. She may cackle to herself in her madness, and yet is uneasy, as the glimmer of the dawn appears in the East.
Of course. She will get an offer as a CEO or on the Board, or Lobbyist, or high-paying position at a socialist University. Then there is always CNN or MSNBC and other leftist media. Politicians never go far from the reigns of control.
She has worked twenty four seven for decades to destroy this great Republic—she deserves a rest.
