I did a two year stint on the Admissions Committee of a university I think all of you would know. We were only to consider students “at the margin”, who would not make it on standard admissions criteria. Often, we would come down to a choice between a black or white student, but we couldn’t accept both. Despite higher scores, more extracurricular activities, blacks got preference. I told the committee we should not accept most of them...that we would just be taking their money for one semester...but that didn’t matter.
I didn’t follow up on all of them, but of the dozens I did follow, not one lasted two semesters. I just wonder if the story would have been different for the white students who were turned away.

Racism is alive and well.
I guess this illustrates the “Nature” of scientific journalism today, reverse diversity and racism.
I'm one-quarter Danish and one-quarter Norwegian (the rest is an Austro-Hungarian melange) - So I guess that means me!
