Patently unconstitutional according to Heller and McDonald.

Nope. God-given rights, do not require licensing, training, background checks, fingerprints, or five-year renewals.

As to how this would play out if it were to pass; they would go after people who legally bought their handguns a a federally licensed dealer, or who had legally acquired a state carry license in states that require them or who had legally registered their handguns in the few states that require registration. That is, the law-abiding. People who stole their firearms or otherwise acquired them illegally would be untouched.

beancounter13 :" After all, if a license holder demonstrates firearm proficiency, passes a background check every five years and the government approves the license, they should be considered ‘safe’, right? ".

There should be no need for renewal every 5 years !
If you pass once, it should be lifetime approval, or else the Dims will restrict the numbers of approved trainers.
Background checks would probably include political party affiliation and activity, if left to the Dims.
This is an infringement of a human right!

What part of “shall not be infringed” do they fail to understand?

Our government requires registration and **basic standards for voting**.

Do you have to show ID to vote NOPE just mail in your name and show up.

Anyone who can not be trusted to be armed should not be running around loose anyway.

Why does the author say “pistols and revolvers”?

Revolvers ARE pistols.

Negative. Pistols and revolvers are both a subset of handguns. A pistol refers to a semi-automatic handgun that is magazine fed. A revolver refers to a museum piece anachronism with a rotating cylinder that holds the rounds. A revolver is not considered a pistol, just as a pistol is not considered a revolver.

Correct, but the Marxists don't want us armed, easier to rule/control the citizenry that way and purge dissenters.

I stand corrected, here’s a link to a pistole for everyone that educated me:

And a bit from Henry V :

Fluellen. Aunchient Pistol, I do partly understand your meaning.

Pistol. Why then, rejoice therefore.

Most of the listed items are already the law of the land…

I am merely proposing to add a poison pill to ensure it loses Democrat support: making the license something that ‘must be issued to anyone who receives the initial training and does not have a criminal record’. This is what it takes to receive an LTC in Texas.

In return, I receive effective reciprocity in all 50 states and US territories. Also, I get rid of the Federal ‘Gun Free Zones’ like government property, sporting events, schools, airports, airplanes, etc.

This is the basis for my consideration…..

the bill would direct the U.S. Attorney General to establish a system for the "registration of all handguns owned, possessed, or controlled in the United States."

If the Senate and House approve, and Usurper Biden signs...

TO WAR!

This bill is an act of war against the American people, and most of us WILL NOT register jack squat.

I actually might be okay with this etc,

What about gun registration? Would you be OK with that too? Just curious as to how much freedom you'd be willing to give up for nothing.

If you read my post #52, you may understand.

I do not like the idea of gun registration, but I am practical in this regard: Everything they are proposing is already law of the land. As one swamp creature put it, they have shipping containers filled with Forms 4473 so they already have effective gun registration.

As an LTC holder, they can already guess that I own firearms, and they know where I live. We would truly have to live in a fantasy world to think that we can continue to hide in anonymity.

Meanwhile, we could turn their logic against them and make them swallow a poison they do not wish to take … namely Reciprocity. Also, we could force them to admit that Gun Free Zones only enable criminal behavior.

I would prefer Constitutional Carry, but the Democrats will never allow that. Having such an amendment stuck on a National Licensing Act would basically make Constitutional Carry the law of the land. The Democrats would vote their own bill down.

I say put it up for an upper down vote, roll call vote, then let’s remove from office anyone that votes Yes.

How about an amendment? Much like what they wanna do to the second amendment, before anyone can speak, they must take a class, get a background check, and a license! Fair is fair.

That’s cool enough. I see your point.

I live in TEXAS and I did jump through all of the required hoops to get my CHL and subsequent LTC in years past.

That said, as a Marine and a Sovereign Citizen, all of that Bravo Sierra just chaps my hide.

I just resent the hell out of being in a position of being told that I have to seek permission and/or approval to exercise my God Given Rights.
