My son is entering Kindergarten in the fall
Can’t afford to homeschool or send to private
I’m having anxiety attacks just thinking about it

You can afford it.

First, most states do not require school unitl age 7.

Second, look around for homeschool groups and coops that you can work with

Third, famly making will become more important if your son is homeschooled.

Have you checked out parochial school? I worked weekends in a fast food restaurant in order to pay for my son’s Missouri Synod Lutheran school. It was worth it.

I believe that Most states don’t require kindergarten attendance.

I went into debt to make sure my kids didn’t have to go to public school. It wasn’t anywhere close to as bad as it is now.

Sending your kid to a public school is pretty close to child abuse.

My wife homeschooled my two sons through high school. She had no formal teaching training. They are both making 6 figure incomes as engineers.

You can do it! It just depends on how bad you want to.

Thank you everyone, for all for the advice
Even the parochial schools here in CA expensive, especially after this past year because so many parents moved their kids from public to private.
The demand caused private schools to increase their tuition & the wait lists are insane

In re the homeschool.

First of all I homeschooled all my kids. They turned out excellently. Allow me to assure you that the academics for a kindergartner take no more time than 45 minutes a day. You could do it after dinner, no problem. This is not shafting your kid. All mine were reading before kindergarten was over.

Secondly kindergarten is not normally compulsory so you can beg off another year.

Thirdly your church if you attend one should be able to assist. Ask the pastor or the deacons for help with Christian school tuition or to pay a christoan mom to include your kid with hers.

Fourth contact hslda.org for leads for local home school groups and supports that may be willing to take on your child. Mary may be starting her son in k next year and wish he had a buddy. She may take your child in for very little.

Fifthly contact local private schools and ask about tuition assistance.

Your child is worth the effort.
