But I'm frankly a bit turned off by how some Trump supporters seem to have a touch of messianic fervor about them, and there is a "Man on Horseback"/caudillo aspect to some of his support that bothers me. I'd certainly still vote for him in 2024 if he was the nominee, but DeSantis is a far younger (Trump already is 75), and I think more electable candidate who also stands for all the right policies.
I can certainly see why some folks may still prefer Trump to DeSantis, and I'm perfectly fine with that. They'd both be great presidents. There's no reason at this point to let that be divisive. But to the extent there is a mindset of tremendous personal loyalty to President Trump, and that anyone who doesn't share that is some kind of leftist or traitor, I don't share that.
At some point the torch needs to be passed, lest MAGA dies with Trump.
