Woman charged with running over protester found not guilty

Joshua Jered posted the video with the caption: "Running over a nonviolent protester should be illegal. Law statement: ”the driver must be ’exercising due care,’ and the person in the roadway must be there to protest and be purposefully blocking the vehicles."

The jury found the woman, Jennifer Watson, not guilty of assault, but did give her a misdemeanor reckless driving charge, as Fox News reported:

Watson’s defense team argued she was fearful during the May 2020 protest in Denver, saying, "she was surrounded by people who began kicking and hitting her car and taunting and yelling at her."

So the ‘defund the police’ crowd is crying because they feel the police did not give them justice. Somebody post the Asian girl rubbing her eyes!

How do they even justify the reckless driving charge? She was in fear of her life from a violent mob.

They were afraid to let her off completely so they had to throw the “woke” crowd a bone.

The jury wussed out giving her a reckless driving guilty verdict. She should have been given a safe driving award

Just as well. Makes it sound like the jury did it’s job, weighed the facts and found approrpirately. They didn’t ignore the law. The DA just failed to prove his case. Very narrow if any grounds for appeal.

Juries no longer pass verdicts based on the rule of law, they do so based on what the mob might do if they don’t pass verdicts the way the mob wants them to rule

They violate their oathby doing so, and God takes that very seriously.

Video at link. She didn’t run anyone over. She bumped a guy with her front fender and immediately put on the brakes, turned the wheels the other way and took off.

If the R’s in Denver had any brains they would be running their guy full tilt against the DA using this case and asking why he would press charges against a woman being terrorized by a mob.

Denver isn’t that far gone. Lots of women there who live in fright of such a thing, may vote for Rats because they do the happy face with them, but when it comes to safety...they go the opposite direction.

Assuming of course that no Dominion machines or extra ballots or phony cheat-by-mail ballots are used, which of course they are. But we can try.

2nd that. When you’re blocking the road acting threatening, you’ve crossed the line from protestor to violent mob and if bad things happen, the mob brought it on themselves. Anyone who spent time in Iraq, or paid attention to those who did, knows that bad things happen at roadblocks.

Possible the “reckless” argument was based on her decision to drive down a street with all those protestors in the first place. Not saying I agree with that, but that might be the logic.

Sort of. They still charged her with a misdemeanor.

Cool. Defending yourself and your property is legal in Colorado.

FWIW- Maybe if she put it in reverse and hit the gas, she would also have been fulfilling the requirement to “retreat” when attacked.

“Denver isn’t that far gone.”

Denver is gone. I’ve had 3 friends suffer hit and runs with uninsured people. I suffered one before I got out. One friend who followed a hit and run perp was attacked with a hammer resulting in a broken bone. That’s an attack with a deadly weapon. Though the police were given the license plate, description of perp and the company name on the van no arrest was ever made. I have friends that moved away from their loft near Coors Field because they got tired of hearing gunshots and finding poop, vomit and needles in their building doorway.

I was recently invited there for a party celebrating an annual event. I was a founding member of said event. I answered that I didn’t enter Denver anymore as it’s too lawless and uncivilized now. I lived in Denver from 76 to 83, moved west to Lakewood due to crime, moved SW to unincorporated Jeffco and was run out completely by 2009. Life in a civilized small town is much preferable to insane Denver.

An angry crowd where a man jumps on her hood & breaks a woman’s windshield? He expects no response from a scared woman? Another lunatic liberal.
