For sustainable finance to work, we will need central planning
Financial Times ^ | July 11, 2020 | Max Krahé

...

As I concluded from research I conducted for Belgium’s Royal Academy of Science and SFPI-FPIM, the country’s sovereign wealth fund, this can only be achieved with a degree of central planning. Any other approach falls short.

...

Instead of waiting for the market to speak, a planning body — whose composition and accountability require careful consideration — should formulate plans for each of the five systems, which should then be translated into project-level criteria for sustainable investments.

No central planning. Period. Central planning is the hallmark and big stick of Marxism.

A just machine
To make big decisions

Programmed by fellas
With compassion and vision

We’ll be clean
When their work is done

We’ll be eternally free
Yes, and eternally young

What a beautiful world this will be
What a glorious time to be free

Sustainable finance is an oxymoron.

Once you make a closed economy (which is all communism ever is) you immediately cease all growth and progress and it becomes a race to the bottom.

Even if central planning didn't equal marxism...

Why would anyone want people managing their broke government's finances also manage their personal finances? That'd be like wanting Chris Christie to put us all on a diet regimen.

Except that doesn’t work.

Never works.

Even in private industry it doesn’t.

The problem with central planning is you never have all the data. You make decisions for company A without having a good idea of what they need to do.

It's called the ‘Gosplan’ and it NEVER worked.

These Liberal clowns never get tired of trying to legislate prosperity.

The evidence of the rot that permeates the western education systems.

As you can see, “climate change” is 100% not “about the climate”. It was evident from the very beginning it is and always was a political hook into socialist central planning of the economy. IT - not the climate - is the ends, and the political gambit of “climate change” is merely the means.

If you follow the climate alarmists own “science” (which I understand but do not accept their predictions) all that the central planners are now demanding be put in place, if implemented TODAY, WILL NOT change the course of “warming” for another 100 to 200 years, and even then the climate will already be at what the alarmists call an “extreme” global average temperature and will not recede for another 100 to 200 years.

In that same 100 to 400 years, the better investment for the world’s economies will be in measures that adapt to and mitigate “climate change” effects, rather than chasing CO2. And free market economies will be better at the former than centrally planned economies; but even in the latter case centrally planned economies will fail in their own goals.

Central planning has a long history of making countries and their people wealthy and eliminating inequality.

(If anyone believes this statement I have some swampland for sale....)

“Central Planning”,, eh?

Sure worked well in Soviet Russia ....NOT!!
Sure seems like it is not working in Ccommunist Cuba or China, either.

It would be an unelected group of misers, responsible to no one, and, most likely, chosen for their party affiliation, and not for their checking account balancing skills.

“Central planning”...who used to use that term a lot? Oh, yes. Now I remember. (And it never did work very well.)
