I wish the Preamble to the Constitution stated the government exists to provide Liberty and not Security.
And I wish the US Supreme Court had some sort of governing document which said the same thing -- the Court exists to uphold the US Constitution and to provide Liberty and not Security.
I do not want to live in a Safe society.
I want to live in a Free society..
Most people don't want any bad thing to ever happen to anyone anywhere. I think most of our problems stem from this. Patrick Henry said "Give me Liberty or give me Death" and we are now about a million miles away from that.

That governing document happily exists. See Article VI, U. S. Constitution:
“This Constitution, and all the Laws of the United States which shall be made in Pursuance thereof . . . shall be the supreme Law of the Land; and the Judges in every state shall be bound thereby . . .”
Note well the words: “made in Pursuance thereof.”

When dealing with a production manager that constantly was pushing us to do his pet projects saying “if you would only make these easy changes you could fix all these problems” I put this quote into my emails:
“For every complex problem there is an answer that is clear, simple, and wrong.”

Reminds me of a piece of artwork by Charles M. Russell. Two cowboys are robbing a preacher. The caption is..
“If money’s the root of all evil,

Russell might’ve been a good artist but he didn’t know his Bible. Money isn’t the root of all evil; the LOVE OF money is the root of all evil.
I know that but why let a fun poem go to waste.
The biblical quote is “The love of money is the root of all evil.” G.B. Shaw said “The lack of money is the root of all evil.” (And “Work is the curse of the drinking class.”) A suppose avarice is an evil, but being productive is essential to happiness.
Reminds me of Mussolini’s great quote: “We have buried the putrid corpse of liberty.”
