VIDEO: Why You MUST Go to a Korean BBQ

VIDEO

If you have never gone to a Korean barbecue before you MUST check it out. One big reason is that the dining experience is completely different from a regular barbecue. Why? Well, for one thing you are the cook. Yes, you cook your own food at a Korean barbecue as you can see in this video. Also the cuts of meat and flavors are very different to say nothing of the side orders. Somehow I don't think you will have seaweed or kimchi at a regular barbecue restaurant.

If you have an Korean barbecue restaurants in your area, I highly recommend you check them out. We went to the Chow One Korean Barbecue in Pembroke Pines, FL and the food and service were excellent. In fact I can say I had one of the best steaks in my life. It can best be described as having an exquisite sort of sweet flavor that you might not think would work on steak but it does.

Oh, and one important note. Did you see the scissors in the video? Well, use it. It will make cooking and handling the food much easier. Unfortunately I overlooked that. I did cut the meat up into smaller pieces months ago when I was last there but somehow overlooked doing it this time.

I'm already looking forward to eating Korean BBQ again even though this was recorded just two days ago. That steak is something I MUST get back to. Anybody else out there ever been to a Korean BBQ? Let me know how you liked it.

Not all Korean BBQs are that good. I went to one in Columbus, GA, and the food was all laid out already, and was dry and not too flavorful. I’ll have to try a better one. Must be plenty here in Phoenix.

What is the difference between a Chinese BBQ and a Korean BBQ. In Chinese, the meat is cat. In Korean, the meat is dog.

Columbus, GA. That might have been the problem right there. Perhaps you need to check out a larger metropolitan area. Here in Broward County we have lots of Koreans. In fact, just walking distance from me is what I believe to be the biggest Korean grocery store in the South. They have really great stuff there.

There’s was an American / Korean couple at our local farmer’s market the past several years and she is a fantastic Korean cook. It’s a family biz — they have their two kids helping out.

Her Bulgogi beef dish with Kimchi is just wonderful. They are now at the Food Truck Court and no longer at the Farmer’s Market. I miss them at the market, but they are probably getting a more regular customer base and revenue stream in their new truck.

Her Bulgogi beef dish with Kimchi is just wonderful.

The restaurant I went to had Bulgogi beef but I didn't try it since I ordered that last time I was there. My stomach has only so much room. I also had to forgo their ribs for the same reason.

I got turned on to KBBQ over a decade ago. There are tons of them in the Atlanta area, we have a big Korean / Korean emigre population. Recommended for sure for those who haven’t tried.

Bigger than a Super H-Mart? We have half a dozen or so of them in the ATL area.
