That is the part of his problem.

Why are you trying to confront someone?

If they are family you either say I can deal with them as they are or you cut off contact.

Confronting them does exactly nothing good for anyone. They know exactly what they are doing and have chosen to continue to do so.

Are you trying to build up Holiness points? It does not work that way and of course you were not able to forgive them. You just poured gas on the fires of resentment in your heart.

Hate kills. It's time we let it go.

God hates evil.

I will follow His lead.

You go tell Him to just let it go.

I will stand way over here out of the way.

Confrontation can be beneficial if done for the right reasons and if done in humility. It can be very healing and liberating.

But even in the best of circumstances, the outcome is uncertain, because so much depends on the attitudes of both participants in the conversation.
