A weapon designed to be given to drunk, illiterate Russian conscripts. Of course it’s reliable.

Now toss in 9 yr olds in Africa.

Yes it’s reliable.

“Of all the weapons in the vast Soviet arsenal nothing was more profitable than Avtomat Kalashnikova model of 1947, more commonly known as the AK-47, or Kalashnikov. It’s the world’s most popular assault rifle, a weapon all fighters love. An elegantly simple nine pound amalgamation of forged steel and plywood, it doesn’t break, jam, or overheat. It will shoot whether it’s covered in mud or filled with sand. It’s so easy even a child could use it, and they do.”

Is The AK-47 Really The Most Reliable Assault Rifle?

For a 'head scratcher' like this, we need a REAL expert! Somebody call Captain Obvious!

If we are limiting it to Ruskie guns, Mosin > AK except up close in a pray and spray.

All the brand new M-4s liberated in Afbidenstan will be tossed on the heap as soon they dont get a good daily scrubbing. They will search back to where they dropped their 50 year old AK and pick it up and start fighting with it.

Reliable? Yes. You can throw it in mud, pick it up and wipe it off and it fires.

But accurate? Absolutely positively NOT! A 4 shot burst is as wide a pattern as a 12 guage with bird shot.

That being said I would LOVE to add one to my collection!

I used to own one (semi-auto) and consider it an excellent rifle at 100 yards. I had no problem getting good accuracy and it NEVER jammed. I fired a lot of Russian-made (cheap) ammo through it. It has the ballistics of a .30-30 Winchester which is far superior to 5.56 rifles.

With $50 worth of aftermarket parts my WASR is reliable to a fault. And it’s more than accurate enough to put something down at 150 yards.

Well, it will take abuse but its accuracy isn’t stellar. Its about half as accurate as my AK 74.

The AK is an example of one those “they got it right the first time”.
